The last day of the Texas school’s spring break. (Whew) As was fitting, the week of mayhem ended with winds of seventy miles an hour and torrential rain. The photo of the beach shows calm but overcast which is how it appeared after the storm. I took a walk Saturday morning, and there were some tents and campers severely damaged. (By the way, the weather folks gave us all plenty of warning) All campers should have left the beach, so it is hard to feel sorry for them. I lost a strip of siding in the wind. How that happened, I have no idea. It must have been loose but if I could have prevented it I did have enough warning just not the knowledge.
This Feature is titled Fifty-Two Views of the Gulf and was intended to run for a year, The year will be up on Sunday, April 3rd. I plan to create a montage that will be a permanentĀ piece on the sidebar. ( I hope) Next week I’m going to run a poll to see if you would like the feature to continue under the title One View of the Gulf Fifty-Two Times. I hope you will vote your preference. We caught a tip of your storm yesterday here in South Florida, but it didn’t last long! We were due for some rain anyway.

Silly kids. Maybe they were too busy partying to pay attention to the weather.
The first photo looks as if no one has been on that beach forever.
After the storm, the calm is unbelievable. I see the sand took saw vehicular trashing. Do keep the views. I enjoy them too. š š

The first picture is so calm and peaceful. The second is simply beautiful.
I’ve enjoyed this feature, John. With the walkway finished, I realize you probably feel like there is not enough variation in the views to make it interesting. But to me it’s not about that. I enjoy relaxing for a moment, looking at the gulf through my virtual window. I hate to travel, so I’m unlikely to visit the ocean again, even though I love it. Your commentary is always wonderful too.

I have come to enjoy starting my week with a view of the Gulf. Sorry about the strip of siding. Not much you can do about that. If the wind gets in and starts tugging, something’s going to give. I hope you have some spare, or can easily match the color.

Today’s view is one I’ve seen gazillions of times, John…from the Mississippi coast. So many cloudy, grey days, but when that sun pops through, what enormous beauty! Thank you for reminding me of that and yes, I’ll vote because I never get tired of seeing this scene!
