I thought I would give you some idea of what kind of influx we see here at the coast on the holidays. As a comparison let me give you the first photo of a typical weekday.
As you can see, there are many campers down by the water’s edge. The wind was blowing pretty well, and if you look at the white pickup, there are two pop-ups just beyond it.
I just managed to snap a photo as the popups went over.
Hopefully, this will give you an idea of how the population increases during the holidays
interesting to read and see photos 🙂

Apparently I’m not knowledgeable about some things concerning beaches or have been in India too long. What is a “pop-up”, John? Good pictures. 🙂 — Suzanne

It is like an instant tent with no sides. It shades the sun. The term pop-up relates to the mechanical structure that literally pops up when installed. Hope this helps. 🙂

That looks awesome, actually. I want to live there. What state are you in? I get to see the ocean about once every three years… I need a pop up so I can have it blown over.

I live in Texas on a barrier island in the Gulf. I have a pop-up but keep it in the garage on days like the one pictured. 🙂

That sounds lovely. We’ve talked about moving to Texas. Maybe when the kids get bigger and we’re not dependent on their grandparents for child care. Lol.

Is that a good or bad thing?

Eh. Some good some bad. We always joke when we see a pile of trash that there will be SPURs memorabilia in it somewhere.

Well, where else would it go? I should admit that I’m not sure what game the Spurs play.

Not this year. Past years, NBA champs.

Seems a lot of teams have a great run and then a few years of horribleness. Then again, I’m a NY Giants fan and that’s our system.

The Spurs suffer from the lack of younger players. Al the older players have big contracts so there is no money to bring in fresh.

Ouch. Surprised they don’t drop some of the older players due to the team not winning much.

They have a fan following like no other team. Even these older players are like Gods to the fans. Pretty hard to cut a God.

Good point. I guess some people bring in the fans no matter if the team is winning. So you need the charisma ones for bad years.

Howdy neighbors! Thanks for the photo-answer to my question, John. How many tow trucks visit the beach on the average holiday?

Not too sure, but the cost is a min of $500.00, so most people get help from other beach goers.

Oh my… I was almost afraid to look. Happy holiday weekend, huh? Am I wicked for chuckling at the flying pop-ups? 😈
You know, despite everything, I have to say that you caught really beautiful shades of mauve in the clouds. Mega hugs my friend. 🙂

I saw the mauve and took the two shots and discovered the blown over pop ups after. I did have a pretty good laugh when I realized what I had. Happy Memorial Day. If you pass Arlington, say hello to Major John F.O. Howell my grandfather. Hugs

Huh. What gets me is why do they need to park so close to the water’s edge.
Had to chuckle when you mentioned the popups going over. 😀
Happy holiday weekend, John. 🙂

Beats me too. I know the tides and would never park down there.

It never fails to ‘amuse’ – the ignorance of time and tide that most non-seaside dwellers have when it comes to taking their cars and paraphernalia onto the beach!
Living in North Cornwall where we have some legendary tidal harbours, it’s amazing how many people will park their cars on the harbour mouth when there are literally dozens of moored boats stranded on the beach and the seaweed-strewn harbour walls are patently muchhigher than the sea bed… Not to mention all the signs and clocks showing the next high tide time… ><
Do they think the sea will never come back! 😦
Pop-ups and 'wind breaks' are really hilarious though 😛

Thanks Jan. We do get out share of swamped autos. Swamped tents and pop-ups are common.

Good morning, John
Well, this is Memorial Day weekend, isn’t it? With a really crowded beach. Even more crowded, if I remember correctly, closer to the centre of Port A. Not that I like that, tough. We prefer the quiet weekdays – very much so.
But whatever, I hope you can still enjoy this weekend,
Pit

It is a different world, isn’t it? I suppose we still fortunate that there are some open beaches in Texas. I love it when it is quiet and peaceful. We used to drive out on New Year’s Day and it was really nice. Stay sane and safe even if you have to share.
