While walking the two dogs yesterday, I was struck by the amount of traffic on the beach. There was nothing special going on, so it was a bit of a shock to see the number of folks out for a day by the Gulf. I took a photo or two which I will share. My wife let me know that I’ve done enough beach pictures, but I think you won’t mind.
Notice all the seagulls. They whipped past me at about ear high, and I couldn’t catch them with my camera.
This next photo shows my two babies on the walkway. You can see the cars behind them.
Bailey is the dark brindle and Lucy in white. Bailey loves to jump up on the seat to look out over the beach. Lucy is just as happy staying on the deck. In the afternoon they don’t go on the beach but are content just to look at it. The weather is just too hot for them down on the sand. In the morning they have a mile walk on the sand which they love. Lucy is continually chasing sand crabs, and Bailey is constantly chasing Lucy.
Fiction Favorites 
All these cars on the beach is something I’ve never been used to, John. Large car parks and a sometimes long) walk to the beach has always been my experience. I’m not sure how I would feel about the presence of so many vehicles.
Handsome hounds, though. I once roomed with a man who had a Boxer called Kent (or something approximating to it). So well-known was he for his flatulence that we always enjoyed peace and quiet in the local pub – everyone moved to the far side of the room as soon as we arrived.
I think it was because of Kent, anyway…

Ha ha ha. I loved the vision of the pub folks all getting up and moving. It is a Monte Python moment. The gas in boxers is usually caused by people food or high grain pet food. Ours do not get scraps and have a grain free diet so they are pretty much gas free. We would love to ban cars from the beach, but this is the Republic of Texas where the right to drive on the beach is inherent. Thanks, Keith.

Good pictures, John. Now you’ve got me wondering why there were so many cars. I wonder if the sand is too hot for the dogs’ feet in the afternoon. Your boardwalk really looks good. 🙂 — Suzanne

The temperature at the sand level is intense. Boxers do not do well in the heat, so although they would like to go on the beach, we keep them off in the hot time of the day. Thanks, Suzanne. 🙂

Have to agree with above that cars on the beach is weird to see. Probably because they don’t allow it around here. You get into a parking lot and walk down the beach. Considering how quickly the beaches erode here, I’m not surprised. There’s also that ‘no running people over’ thing since idiots are plentiful.
So, what happens when Lucy catches a sand crab?

The only time she caught one it pinched her and she dropped it. She did not learn form that experience though. 🙂

Lucy definitely seems more laid back than Bailey, or maybe in the photos she’s tired from chasing the crabs. Great looking dogs, John! As for the photos of the ocean…I never get tired of seeing those. Happy Sunday!

Tell your wife that some of us don’t get to see beach very often. I’m happy that you share yours. But, if you tell her that and if makes her angry, pretend I didn’t say it, ‘cuz…wife. I listen to mine.
Two of our female Setters used to always get up in a chair in the Vet’s office. All of them sit on furniture. Baily would be right at home here.

Maybe day trippers are a bit like the seagulls? A couple show up and then everyone else piles in to see what’s going down…(the seagulls are after lunch opportunities of course – don’t know about the people! 😛 )

Maybe the beach is busy due to the heat and everyone’s cooling off at water’s edge?

I don’t like the beaches in Florida where people can drive. They scare me, especially when I take the little ones. It also takes something away from the whole ocean serene experience. Yet, my favorite beach town is one where they allow it.
Lucy is adorable with her patched eye and I love the brindle colors of Bailey. I can just imagine them romping the beach together in the early morning hours. What fun. 🙂

The beach is really full – for just a “normal” weekend. Reminds me some of Ferderiecksburg here. Alls those d*** tourists. 😉 Well, a little more than two years ago we fell into the category ourselves still. 😉 And whenever we come to Port A, we’ll be in that category, too.

Cars parked on the beach! Dreadful. Not allowed here in the little Fish Town of Brixham, England. Looks awful too. Great Blog, John. Dogs… are they Boxers? I have two cocker spaniels who love a paddle – the sea is a short stroll from where we live. I would hate to see cars parked like those… annoying

You’re right, John — I never tire of your wonderful beach photos! And adding your two fur-kids to the mix makes me doubly happy! It must be lots of fun trying to keep these two in check — one of my friends walks two terriers, and he claims it’s way harder than merely walking one!

A beautiful shot of the beach, but I prefer those photos where you have it to yourself. A solitary walk on an empty beach rids the mind of the junk that creeps in and allows your creative juices to flow. Your babies are precious.
