Oh my goodness. Last week we witnessed poor Lucas on the horns of a dilemma. He was being asked inside the house of his employer by Alice Weston. Now Alice clearly does not have the best intentions and Lucas has a bit of a problem. Should he violate a trust he has with the Widow Murphy and fall into whatever Alice has in mind? Should Lucas tell Alice no and incur her wrath? Should he think of a different way out of this mess? Let’s go find out which way Lucas heads.
“You want me to come inside, Mrs. Weston. Just for a drink of water right?”
“Why Lucas Saveride I declare what else would I have on my mind?”
“I-I’m not sure. I know if I go into Mrs. Murphy’s house without her permission I will get into trouble.”
“Oh, nonsense. She won’t care.”
“How about a drink from the hose over there?”
“I’m not a common labor or who drinks from hoses. Uh, no offense.”
“None taken. If you had more on your mind than water I have a suggestion.”
“More? Like what more?”
“Oh, I don’t know. Maybe something stronger than water.”
“A bit early for that isn’t it?”
“Depends on what goes with the something stronger.”
“If I didn’t know better I would say you are trying to seduce me you, bad boy.”
“I kinda like being in control. I got the same feeling before from you.”
“You make me blush, Lucas. So what is your suggestion?”
“I have a little place not far from here. We could go and have a drink and let the rest of the story be told after that.”
“I could be persuaded. Do you have any gin?”
“We can pick some up.”
“I don’t know what you think of me. I’ve never even thought about doing this before.”
“I know. Let’s just call it my idea. I just noticed when the sun hits your hair you look like a princess.”
“For heaven’s sake Lucas. I’ll drive.”

So Lucas is game after all but at least he won’t violate someone else’s privacy. Good for him.

Yes another thriller. Geeez, you would think I could write a romance story or something. Right? Thanks, Gwen. :-).

Had me until the gin. That should have been a warning to her . . . or him. Honestly, it’s like watching two predators circle each other.

Thanks, Charles. I had a character meeting this morning and told them they have to step it up a bit. They all promised to give it their best shot. That is all I can ask.

It’s good to know that Lucas has respect for certain principles. It’s scary to think of what his intentions might be. If I were new around her, I’d go with the obvious. Then again, I’m going to keep this seat belt snug.

I would as well, Dan. There is bumpy air ahead. 🙂

I don’t know what Lucas has in mind but he got her away from the house of his employer at least. Good continuance, John. I love the camel race. 😀 — Suzanne

Ha ha!! Lucas is not as naive as you might have had us believe. 🙂 Yes, I sense a thriller brewing! You’ve sucked me in, John.

I hope so. I can never let a story just be told. There has to be something in it for the curious. Thanks, Jan. 🙂

Hmm. I think Lucas may have some nefarious plans of his own and not in the manner Alice Weston thinks. The suspense builds. This is getting sooooo intriguing!

Thank you, Mae Clair. I for one am getting nervous. 😀

Ha! I agree with Charles… 2 predictors circling. Now you have me wondering if Lucas, or the absent widow (if she’s not in fact the dearly departed) has a camera inside the house for even more twists to this tale. The twists started so soon — if this was a horse race there’d be collisions right and left and oh the humanity! 😀
Thanks for another fun lunch break. Have a wonderful Wednesday, John. Mega hugs.

Happy New Year, John. You startled me with this, you know. She should really stay home and lock the doors. Lucas probably isn’t as green as I once suspected. I don’t think I wanna watch. This is usually when I offer to go make the popcorn.

So what you’re telling me is no one wants popcorn? Then I’ll begin knitting, or something, but I’ll be here.

Welp, Lucas sure surprised the hell out of me! Here I thought he was a babe in the woods, and as it turns out, he’;s LOOKING for a babe in the woods. Or something like that. And he likes danger in his women….nothing wrong with that.
