Friday JohnKu -AKA- TGIF

TGIF

Friday is the day of the week that brings us all together in the worship of time off. This weekend is Super Bowl weekend and a time to gather and cheer for someone else’s team. This year the Pittsburgh Steelers (My team) lost the championship to the New England Patriots and Tom (squeeze that ball) Brady. So naturally, I am a one day fan of the Atlanta Falcons who won the right to meet the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.

My wife and I love the commercials so even though our team is not playing we will be watching. We have been invited to a party and will also look at the game in between mouthfuls of forbidden foods. Oh, let me correct that statement. I will be eating mouthfuls of forbidden foods. (until caught that is to say) All in all, it should be a good time, and we are looking forward to the event. The idea of rooting for a team to lose (As I am with backing the Atlanta Falcons against the New England Patriots) is the subject of today’s John Ku. Hope you like it and have a terrific weekend.

Hilarious and perfect! Enjoy the game, the commercials and the friendships – a blessed relief from politics. 🙂

    1. I would say so. Of course we can expect some kind of statement by someone at the game. 😦

  3. Squeeze the ball? Never heard of that one before. I think I’m in this one for the commercials too. Can’t be any stranger than that Mountain Dew Puppy-Monkey-Baby thing from last year.

    1. That commercial was weird. Never liked it. My reference was from deflate gate. I made the squeeze the ball thing up myself. I had a laugh over it. (audience of one) 😀

      1. Wasn’t sure about the reference. Not up on my Tom Brady/Patriots scandals so I thought I missed something. That commercial was so bizarre, but it kept showing up for months.

And I’m happily not in it at all! I’m still laughing about Friday rhyming with alcohol! It really does!!! I think I’ll watch a good movie. John, have a great time at your party!

    1. I would say that is pretty late. After pub closing time is not a time to be watching US football. 😀

      1. No. Coming home at 4am doesn’t appeal!

  6. What a fun post, John. I will be rooting for one of my lifelong favorites, the Pats. I have to remain loyal, as my oldest son and his family live in Boston. Enjoy the game, the food, and the commercials while surrounded by friends.

  8. I have to admit I’m a Patriots fan (since the days of Drew Bledsoe), but living in PA, I would have been happy with a Steelers win too. That said, go Pats!
Oh, and I can’t wait to see the commercials 🙂

  9. I’ll also be pulling for Atlanta. One thing about Super Bowl parties is that there is usually so much jabbering that hinders hearing the commercials! Meanwhile, hope someone at your party doesn’t ruin the evening by mentioning politics. … but if they do, it’s Obama’s fault.

  13. Apt JohnKu. Enjoy the Super Bowl. My brother is a Falcons fan. We went to see them play the Giants at Wembley a couple of years back. So Brady is still going strong at the ripe old age of 39.

  14. Hmmm – having watched the agonies my late partner went through watching his home-town team, or England in internationals, play in tournaments (usually very badly), I think it’s always a relief NOT to care who wins or loses and just sit back and enjoy the spectacle! 😛
Have a great SuperBowl everyone! 😉

  15. My hubby was also bummed about Pittsburgh (that’s putting it lightly). Your party sounds a lot like ours – are you sure weren’t not going to the same one?

  16. Nothing like having to be a Falcons fan for a few hours, huh, John? Well, I hope the ads and the food are enough to compensate for not really having a dog in this fight!!

  17. You mean Friday DOESN”T rhyme with alcohol? Don’t mess with my take on reality, it’s too fragile.

Love the Haiku! A Falcons fan for a day huh? I’m guessing you’re gonna be in the vast majority, Sheriff. Just a guess…

    1. I think you guess right. Someone said on Social media, “let’s forget politics and get back to hating Tom Brady.”

      1. I think I’m gonna make a “Leave Tom Brady Alone!” video. Then again….maybe not. 🙂
