Wednesday Story Day – AKA – Hump Day

Hump Day

It is Wednesday Storytime again, and last week we had a cringe moment when we found out Lucas’ parents had been murdered and that he was left enough money to go to college. Although we can’t be certain as to the motivation of Mrs. Murphy, it was clear she had some feeling that can best be described as “uneasy.” I can see the two of them are still talking so let’s jump back and find out what’s next.

“Here’s your chicken salad and tea. Lucas.”
“Thank you, Miss Harriet. I must say you make the best of both.”
“Why thank you, Lucas. That is a nice thing to say.”
“Why don’t you sit down. You look uncomfortable standing there.”
“Oh, I’m perfectly comfortable—”
“Sit Miss Harriet. You are making me nervous.”
“Well then okay.”
“Not over there. Come sit next to me.”
“W-well. I’m not so sure.”
“Weren’t you the one who wanted me to come in here half-naked?”
“I uh. Very well. How is this?”
“Much better. Now we can get to know each other better. What other questions do you have for me?”
“Questions for you?”
“Yes. It seems this whole town wants to ask me things. Go ahead. Oh and let me put your hand here on my leg.”
“My goodness, Lucas. You are making an old woman blush. I’m not comfortable like this.”
“Nonsense. Go ahead ask away. You’ll get used to touching me.”
“Um. Oh, my er. I have it. Do you have any siblings?”
“Ha ha ha. I knew you had a goodie in there. Yes. I have one sister.”
“Where does she live.”
“Not sure. She disappeared about the time my parents were killed.”
“Oh, how awful. You poor boy.”
“I know it is sad. Makes you want to give me a big hug right?”
“Oh for heaven’s sake. I’m going to ask you to finish up Lucas and leave my house.”
“Spoken by a lustful old cougar.”
“My word that’s it. You’re fired.”
“I don’t think so, Mrs. Murphy. I don’t think so.”

  1. Uh, oh. It seems Lucas is beginning to show what might be his true colors and Mrs. Murphy is now worried. Good installment, John. 🙂 — Suzanne

    1. I think she should be worried. Who would open their door just because he has a nice chest? Thanks, Suzanne. 🙂

  2. Certainly not as innocent as he first seemed but the place seems full of women who lust after him I wonder if we’ve heard the last about his parents murder and his sister’s disappearance?
    Hugs.

    1. And the important question are they (Murder and disappearance) related?

  3. That was unexpected. Guess Lucas finally tried to the play the same games. Doesn’t appear to be very subtle though.

  4. Oh dear. Worm his wicked way into the weary widow woman’s wefuge (sorry), only to put her person purposefully into a place of particular perturbation.

  8. Looks like the widow got more than she bargained for and Lucas…well, not so innocent as he first appeared.

  9. Good think I had that seat belt fastened. I was ready for this to take a turn, but I didn’t see that cliff coming. Lucas seems a little out of control here, John, but I’m guessing he knows what he’s doing.

  11. Well, that has taken quite an ominous turn. Lucas’ true colors begin to show.

Dang! Another whole week before the next segment. This is like following a favorite weekly TV show and waiting for the next episode. I’m riveted.

  14. John, I’m feeling the impulse to make an Excel matrix to keep up with the twists here. And hit Amazon looking for a neck brace for the whiplash. 😀
It was fun for Lucas to call the widow’s bluff… if it was a bluff. You know I’m hooked. See you next week — Same cougar-twist time. Same cougar-twist channel. Mega hugs!

      1. LOL. Don’t underestimate my geekitude. You haven’t seen my character matrix for that 700 page epic fantasy (that will probably never see the light of day unless some anime producer goes insane and magically finds me). 😉
