Saturday – More Views of Edinburgh

Normally on Saturday, there is a Stream of Consciousness prompt. While travelling I missed it so I thought you might like some more pictures of Scotland.

Here is a photo of the St. Andrews Cathedral.  As you can see it is in ruins. The town of St Andrews is very picturesque.

St. Andrews

Here is the Abby at St Andrews. It was destroyed during the Reformation.

Castle at Five

Here is a Castle at Fyvie and is noted because it was a commoner’s castle

There were two swans with their chicks on the side of the road.

Dog and John

This is a shot of a dog in a pub at Fyvie that decided to sleep on my shoe. (Don’t tell Lucy)

Sunset at Whitehills

We visited our Great Grandmother’s hometown of Portsoy. We stayed in Whitehills and here is a sunset shot.

Port Soy

Here is the main street of Portsoy

Portsoy

A shot of the quay in Portsoy.

Portsoy

A picture of my sister and I  marking the moment of our visit to Portsoy. I have more photos and will drag them out every once in a while.

  5. How beautiful!… Did you know that our Bavarian Duke Franz von Bayern of the Wittelsbach Dynastie would be the legal king of Scotland if it would become independent and would return to monarchy? 😉
    Have a wonderful day! 🙂

Yeah, I was wondering about that Commoner’s Castle – was it appropriated? Love the shot in the pub – glad you also took in the REAL important sights! LOL Great pictures, John – thank you!

  14. John, you have a great eye. The photos really make me wish I was there, especially so I could buy you a pint and pet the dog. The cathedral ruins are especially intriguing as I recently finished Ken Follett’s “The Pillars of the Earth” which, if you haven’t read it, is all about building a cathedral (more exciting than it sounds).

  18. They are super pictures, John. I’ve only ever been to Scotland once, and that was a very long time ago. I hope that dog let you have your foot back.

    1. Yes, the dog finally got off my foot. I think it was about five minutes or so. The owner said she only does that to people she likes. She recognized a dog owner I’m thinking. Thanks, Hugh.

      1. Yes, you’re correct. Toby does it a lot to our guests, but only those that give him treats and play with him.
