This prompt is the brainchild of aFrank Angle and follows all the rules laid out. Primarily this picture must be used.

Footprints in the sand

a story needs to be written that is 150 words or less and titled like so

Footprints in the Sand by John W. Howell © 2017

“Why do you do it?”

“Do what?”

“Manage to have every young woman on the beach watch you walk by?”

“Why darling, I have no idea what you are talking about.”

“You do, you old goat.”

“It must be the cane. I got it special in India.”

“I don’t think that is it.”

“What is it then?”

“That ridiculous Speedo.”

      3. Even my initial pattern was in a Sherlock Holmes mode. … but have done a slammer ending as the murderer awaits.

      6. For sure. Even the thought of not doing what you have to do is Obama’s fault.

LOL!!!! Yep, Speedos grab the attention but unless worn by someone like Michael Phelps, that attention is anything but positive. Great story!

    1. Ha ha ha. I remember taking the kids swimming and forgot my suit. All they had in the pool shop were Speedo’s. The kids doubled over in laughter. I didn’t leave the water until we were finished. 😀

  4. Hilarious! Short, concise, but packed full of information 🙂 Also – I must have missed the part where the challenge was supposed to be 150 words or less! 😮

  10. How have all of the world’s Speedos not been systematically burned at this point? Not one of humanity’s shining examples of ingenuity…

  12. Super funny 😂 Although, he must look very good if everyone is looking. Then again, he might look
very bad also causing everyone to look. I hope it’s the first. There are way too many people on the beach wearing way-too-small things. Fun read … thank you for bringing humor into the writing challenge.

  16. Great job, John, but it brought back a frightening scene I witnessed on a beach off the coast of Venezuela many years ago. It was a 70+ year old man wearing a Speedo THONG! OMG! I’ve never been more traumatized in my life.
