Friday – JohnKu – AKA TGIF

TGIF

Friday again. (Yes, John it comes around once a week at this time.) This week has been full of looking at the last proof of Circumstances of Childhood. Next week I should be heavy into formatting which is always fun. (What? are you sick?) I got word the cover is going to be a couple of weeks from now, so I think the mid-September date might slip a little. It is no big deal and I good with anything before November 1st. (So you say to readers.) I wrote a JohnKu last week about the vagaries of publishing, so I think this week I’ll I will discuss one’s inner voice. Yes, those parenthetical statements came from my inner voice.  We all have one, and sometimes mine needs to go off to a seminar on positive thinking. I hope you have a great weekend.

Inner Voice by John W. Howell

So what’s that I hear?

Far away behind my eyes. . .

That arrogant voice.

    1. Maybe the meme should have defined synergy as Friday and martini. Thanks, Suzanne.

  2. Lovely Johnku. Perfect meme! Especially for non poet me.
What do you mean AN inner voice? I have at least 13. They all need that positive thinking seminar. 🙂 TGIF hugs.

  4. Love your rhyme 😂Tell that negative side of your brain that your friend here says knock it off 😊I love reading your blog and feel quite certain that if you can keep me entertained on the blog, betting your book is great!! I do have a question though…will it be available on Audible? I ask as I absolutely love to read but due to my crazy, old eyes reading much at one sitting my eyes cross so I’ve discovered I can still “read” my cherished books thru Audible reading to me. “Getting old isn’t for sissies” right?!? Enlarging fonts on a tablet helps but darn eyes still will go cross and I am still searching for an ophthalmologist or optometrist that can help me with this- urrrr! Anyway, sure your book will be fantastic!!

    1. Thanks, Elizabeth. I have three other books published as well. I plan to get to audio but it does take time and money so it will be a while. In the meantime, just reading the blog will be perfect. I keep it to under 500 words for eyes such as ours. 😀

      1. Yes, I wasn’t sure how the audible thing worked for an author 🙂 Thanks for letting me know 🙂

      2. Need to hire talent and such. Then you need a producer to cut the recording and load it in the proper format. I’ll get there eventually.

“Behind my eyes” is a busy place for writers…and dreamers. Gosh, I guess they are one and the same. What a fun tribute to the unnamed who torment, delight, and guide us throughout the day (and night!). Have a great day, John. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Gwen. We all have those voices. I wonder how many of us can control them? Have a super day. 🙂

  7. I’ll accept that rhyme, John. Tell your inner voice that it can have tomorrow’s SoCS post. That’s how I keep mine quiet during the week.

  8. More of a margarita fan, but only because my martini experience is limited. Good luck with the formatting.

    1. Thanks. My martini is easy. Gin on the rocks with two olives.

I wonder if others realize just how many inner voices a writer has.
    Happy Friday!

  11. My inner-voice has been trying to teach me humility for years. Screw that! Who the hell does it think it is?

  12. Love this one, John. It really spoke to me. (And no, that’s not a bad pun. It really resonated with me. My inner voice could use that seminar, too.) 🙂

    1. I know right? I want to say “Come on! I’m doing the best I can.” It is embarrassing when you do that in a coffee shop. Thanks, Staci. 🙂

  15. Inner voices can be a tad paradoxical… 😦 One of my favourite writers, the late, great Douglas Adams (of Hitch-hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy & Dr. Who fame) said his inner voice was a split personality, alternating between Zaphod Beeblebrox (extreme extrovert and clever clogs) and Marvin the Paranoid Android!
We writers are a funny ole lot! 😀

Formatting is not something I have tackled, yet. Great inner voice and free verse rhyming:)

  17. Agh, formatting. What a disaster my first round of that was! Probably didn’t help that early on, I’d managed to lose my entire working manuscript and had to employ one of Domer’s buddies to find it for me!

    1. I go by the book each step of the way. Seriously I have an instruction book in one hand while I do it. I’ve done three books and still don’t trust myself to wing it.
