“Hey, John.”
“Yes, Stella.”
“Where you been?”
“I was out taking photos.”
“With that iPhone?”
“Yes with the iPhone.”
“Pretty low-tech I would say.”
“Want to see one?”
“Well, it is a while before lunch so what the heck. Sure.”
“What is that?”
“Someone put a flag on the beach with a stick as a flagpole.”
“Why would they do that?”
“I think they were making a statement about being stronger than Hurricane Harvey.”
“That is a statement for sure.”
“Want another?”
“Not going anywhere, John. Why not?”
“Okay. I get the cloud, but I’m sure there is more behind this one.”
“You are very intuitive, Stella. This shot depicts a new day after a storm.”
“I can see that. You know we felines don’t do a lot with symbols.”
“I know. It’s okay. Where are Lucy and Bailey?”
“Two guesses, John. If you use the term ‘couch’ you’ll guess right on each”
“I see. Well thanks for looking at my photos today”
“Anytime, John. If you’ll excuse me. Since we still have some time before lunch I think I take a lay down. You will call me when lunch is ready, right?”
“You can count on me, Stella.”
“Thanks, John. I know that for a fact.”
I’m so happy you’re back home, John. Such a beautiful shot of the beach and our flag.

Fantastic, John – original and brings a smile. You write while you’re asleep too, don’t you?!!! I don’t think you ever take a personal day, do you?
LikeLiked by 1 person
No, I never take day off from writing. I spent about twenty years hoping I could write full time. Now that I’m doing it, I have about twenty years of things to write about. As far as a personal day, I consider what I’m doing to be totally rewarding and therefore each day is a personal day off. Also I have to pay attention to the clock and at 76 years of age (and with cancer in remission ) there is only so much time left. Thanks for the inquiry, GP. Sometimes it is good for me to reflect on what I’m doing too. In answer to the final question, yes, I do write in my sleep. 😀

Great photos. Odd question: Have you seen the crane that usually hung around the area? Forgot her name.

Her name is Peggy. We have not seen her for quite a while. We think old age finally stepped in sad to say.

That’s sad. Well, I will keep hoping she turns up to surprise us all.

John, I’m delighted to see your cleaned-up beach again, as well as to know you’re back home! It’s been a long haul, hasn’t it? The fur-babies don’t look any worse for the wear, unlike so many others who rode the thing out on rooftops. Bet you’re glad for a slow day now and then (I know I am!)

I’m so pleased to see that your world is beginning to return to some sense of normality, my friend.
My favorite breed of dog do love their couch time! I can’t wait until my Grandson wakes up Christmas morning this year … although I doubt if we can keep an eight week old boxer in a Christmas stocking for long. 😊

Ha haha. Both will have a ball. Boxers love kids. (And visa versa.)Thanks, Soooz

They surely do love kids, my daughter always had a boxer when she was small, they caused big smiles in my household over the years. The happiest breed I’ve ever met.

John, you just wrapped up looking ahead, overcoming adversity, patriotism, all under the umbrella of humor and pets. And, you did that in a handful of words. It takes a good writer to do that. Terrific post!

Thank you, Teagan. Stella is sixteen years old and is now showing signs of her age. She is happy and still healthy but slowing down considerably. We worry about her.

I can understand that, John. I’ve been there with a couple who lived long happy lives. It’s not as hard to cope when you know that. Well, a little less hard anyway. Huge hugs.
