“Hey, John”
“Yes, Stella.”
“I think you better check on the canines. I hear rumbles in the hold.”
“The hold?”
“Downstairs. You sure miss the humor sometimes.”
“Lucy, Stella tells me there is grumbling in the hold.”
“The hold, Boss? What does that mean?”
“Stella humor. Now, what’s up?”
“We were going to go for a walk, and here we sit.”
“Tell him, Bailey.”
“Yeah, Pops. We were ready then Mom says wait.”
“Do you two see the rainbow?”
“Uh, I guess it must be raining huh, boss?
“That’s right. Your mom doesn’t want you to get wet.
“Hey mom, Thanks for keeping us out of the rain.”
“You’re welcome Lucy.”
“Hey, Lucy. Come on the sun is out.”
“Coming, Bailey.”
“Ah, now you’re talking.”
“You’ve said it, Bailey. This is super.”
“Wait. Is that Peggy?”
“I don’t think so. Looks like a new Heron in town.”
“Just as well. I have a few crabs to catch. Why don’t we name the new bird Meg?”
“Good idea Lucy. Meg, it is.”
“I see you are back and the canines are still with us.”
“Of course, Stella. They are a part of the family.”
“Okay, John. I really didn’t expect you to give them the slip. When’s lunch? By the way don’t you have some writing to do?”
“I do Stella. I do.”
Thanks for the early morning smiles, John! I loved this.

Looks like a fun walk. Got my hopes up a little with the heron. How’s the area doing?

Slowly getting back. Most of the heavy damaged homes are being leveled and the debris pick up is proceeding. Services are back but the city government infrastructure needs replacing.

At least progress is being made. Takes a while to fully recover. Nice to see that you can still take the four-legged family members out for walks.

I don’t know, Jan. She has been gone for quite a while. Also she was quite old for a Heron. Let’s hope. 🙂

We have adopted the “one day at a time,” philosophy and the fur family pretty much makes us stick to it. Thanks, Craig.

We always hope when we see a Heron. I’m going to believe that when Peggy felt the Hurricane coming she took off and is cruising the beach in Mexico.

For some reason, Peggy and Meg sound just right for a couple of herons. Good stuff, John. Lovely rainbow shot.

Hello John. A really wonderful post. The dogs’ facial expressions are gorgeous, especially Lucy’s. The heron’s also added humour. I am surprised Lucy and Bailey didn’t chase them. My dogs chase anything (except people) when they are on the beach.

Lucy chases the Heron until it flies. I had a good grip on her this time.

Oh that Stella like to keep her own type of reign on the canines. … but they got the walk to see the heron … a perfect transition off my recent post.
