Sorry about the early publish yesterday. Here is the real thing.
It is Friday again, and we can see the gateway to the weekend from here. This has been a busy week spent in meetings with contractors. The home repair situation is going to take a long time. We have adopted what we call the New Normal. It is the belief that all will get done but will take a long time to do it. We just heard the flooring people are so far behind that it might take six months to have the floors replaced. So, the New Normal is not to care if the floors ever get replaced. Then when they do it will be a bonus. The New Normal also dictates that those without a roof should be fixed first then replace ours. Today’s JohnKu talks about the New Normal reality.

I need it fixed now,
Was the old expectation. . .
Now, whenever works.
Have a great weekend.
I think adopting the “new normal” mindset will be less stressful for you and the producer. Last weekend, on the Weather Channel, I saw a story on Port Aransas. Sadly, it looked as though there is still so much work to be done, but it was nice to see all of the volunteers.

There is so much to be done. So few to do it too. Thanks, Jill.

We have had to get used to that mindset here in FL also. Contractors range from ‘fly-by-night’ to very dependable and very expensive [as only one example].

I feel your pain. Trying to get bids is like pulling teeth. Most price the bid on a take it or leave it basis. Thanks, GP.

Stress is reduced with a “new normal” attitude. I can imagine how hard it is, though, waiting, waiting. In the meantime, write another book! 🙂

Good attitude, John. I think of having complained about leaks then seeing the poor people in Puerto Rico with a sheet of plastic where their roof used to be. Sometimes the sheet of plastic hasn’t arrived yet. I like the meme up top. Have a good weekend. —- Suzanne

You both have adopted a good attitude with a new normal. In the long run it makes for less stress, I’m sure. Happy Friday, John!

Great mindset, John. I’m so sorry you’re going through this, but grateful you and yours came through safely. That’s the most important thing.

Thant is the important thing, Staci. Thank you.

That is a good way of looking at it John. I guess it was inevitable that there was going to be a long wait. Hope your new book is faring well.

Thanks Guy. The book is doing fine. NYT best seller? Not likely.

Hard to be patient when things are upended the way they are. Still, I admire your resiliency; after all, we know it could have been much worse. Those folks in Puerto Rico still don’t have water, for Pete’s sake!

Reblogged this on Jan Hawke INKorporated and commented:
Here’s another great JohnKu in the wake of that windy ole Harvey – community spirit is still running high and feisty over in Port Aransas! 😀

We only had a broken window here but it took a month to get someone out to even look at it. Lots worse things, I’m sure. We taped it up till they made it. I hope you get greater than youexpectations John.

Thanks. We now expect little so we are not disappointed

I agree with others – the New Normal sounds much less stressful. Nothing you can do about it, so move on to other things.
