We had an unusual occurrence Friday. We got about an inch of snow and it was the first time since 2004.
We woke up to snow. Here is a shot of the backyard.

Lucy makes some tentative steps. She has not seen snow before.

Baily is an old veteran of snow since she went to college in Waco where it snows more. The dogs are blurry because they are running around a full speed.

I met Tiny on the cart over and he had lost his head over the snow. The cap shows how fast the snow is falling
These are my footprints after about five minutes. You can see the falling snow is filling them in.
Our Hibiscus decided to close up and wait for better weather. I hope you enjoyed the snow. It may be another ten years before we see it again.

I was surprised to hear on the news that you had snow there. It’s a regular thing here – lovely to look at while it’s pristine (provided you’re looking at it through double-glazed windows from inside a heated house, of course)

Great snow pictures, John. It probably made you feel like you did in a northern winter. My daughter sent pictures and a little film about Chicago’s first snow. Of course, it’s expected there. 🙂 — Suzanne

I used to live in Chicago and remember the drifts. You were right, the snow brought back some memories. One time I ran into a snow drift in my car. Was stuck until a farmer dug me out. That was something. Thanks, Suzanne. 🙂

I know what you mean. I grow up in the country in northeast Ohio. Snow, snow, snow. My dad pulled out of the garage one time during the Spring melt and sunk to the wheel rims of his car, He was disgusted because he had to call a tow truck to just pull him across to the other side of the lane. 😀 — Suzanne

Love it, John. We only got down to 45*F last night, so we missed our chance at it. I hope this means we will at least have a cool winter, day after day of heat makes me sluggish and gets boring.

Incredible photos! A couple of them would be great to sell during the tourist season. No one would believe it. I loved seeing Lucy trying to figure out what was going on. So precious. 🙂

Looks pretty. Really hope you guys have shovels and boots. This reminds me of when it got so cold in Florida that there was frost on cars. People were calling into the police and radio stations asking what the stuff was. One person even thought the way to get rid of it was set the car on fire. I wish I was joking there. Great to see that the dogs are enjoying it.

John, this not a View of the Neighborhood that I would ever have expected. How amazing to see palm trees in snow!

Wow John! It is beautiful, but I find it ironic that we haven’t yet had any snow this year in Nova Scotia – which is SO much farther north than where you are.
Mind you, the weather hasn’t been great – we’ve had rain for three days now…

Gee, it might be another ten minutes before I see snow again! Great shots, John. The beach scenes remind me of a visit to the beach at Port Dover on Lake Erie one winter. We rented a cottage there for two weeks every summer for about ten years. I remember that it felt eerie to see the beach covered in snow. Enjoy your winter wonderland while you can. I’ll bet it’s 80 today!

Wow! That’s a rare thing for this part of Texas, for sure. Snow makes for such gorgeous pics, though. Love the photos you took. I feel for the plants but most are so resilient they should come back soon. Your neighborhood is for sure beautiful, John.

John, great pictures, especially the palm trees covered in snow. It is lovely and yo can’t complain about an inch. We got about 2-3 inches in NY and that was a pleasure compared to the nearly 2 feet last winter. Maybe the earth is shifting on its axis so you better buy long johns just in case. 🙂

I’m usually offline on weekends, but I hopped on for a quick email check and as soon as I saw the word “Snow” in your blog post, I had to look. I think you actually got more than we did, although there is something just “wrong” about seeing palm trees doused in snow.

So strange to see snow on palm trees and the beach. Poor Lucy! When our cat saw snow for the first time a couple of years ago, his first reaction was to relieve himself on it. Guess he’s more of a warm weather kind of guy.

Beautiful pictures, John. I’m still enjoying the sight of snow every time it happens, and at present we have lots of snow in the Nothwest of England which changes everything into a wonderland for me.

It does look so pretty, John, but if you’re not used to it then it can be a bit of a shock. We’ve had our fair share too, with over 10 inches of the stuff falling over the weekend. I wonder what the odds are of you having a white Christmas in your part of the world? They’ve cut the odds here.

Wow, John! I love the pictures, especially the ones of the frozen palm trees. I heard some flurries came down in northern Florida but nothing like this. I think I would have a heart attack if I woke up to that here (south Florida). It is beautiful though. 😀
