“Why so glum, chum.”
“I hate to say this, but sometimes your alliterations come at the wrong time.”
“Oh, my. You are in a mood. You been over to Linda Hill’s place again, right?”
“How did you know?”
“Same face every time.”
“It’s cause I like the prompts and want to do well.”
“So what’s the problem?”
“You know I write all the time.”
“Yeah, I do. In fact, I think you are obsessive.”
“Save the psychological analysis for some other time. I have a real problem.”
“Okay. I’m sorry. What’s the problem?”
“Here it is. We are supposed to write about a door that isn’t our own that we have gone through this week.”
“Sounds fun. I don’t see the issue.”
“I only went out once this week.”
“Ah, the old Howard Hughes recluse writer thingy.”
“And guess where I went?”
“A bar, restaurant, museum, or something interesting I hope.”
“That’s just it. I went to the frickin Rheumatologist.”
“What? the Rheumatologist? Oh, that is one exciting trip. How was the door there?”
“You are not helping.”
“What’s with you writers anyway? You have some kind of sun allergy?You’re all the same. To leave the house is like a major deal.”
“We get wrapped up in our work.”
“Yeah, and all your friends are in your head.”
“You are my friend. You aren’t in my head.”
“You’re kidding me right?”
“Yeah. Sorry about that. You are in my head too.”
“I think you need to find a hobby.”
“I have one.”
“Do tell.”
“Making up stories.”
“The prosecution rests your honor.”

I don’t know about sun allergy, but my dermatomogist has me slapping on Factor 100 twice a day even in the middle of winter!

Characters have a way of leading us through all kinds of exciting doors, but life takes us to Rheumatologists. Thank goodness for your “hobbie;” it opens the door of dreams. 🙂

Nice job under such challenging circumstances, John. the possibility of prompts like this is why it’s important to visit at least one fun place each week. Fun places don’t end in ‘ologist’ – you need to look for something ending in ‘tender’.

Your knack for these ‘SoCS’ prompts amaze me! They’re so good and fun to read! I can see a “Book of Prompts” coming from John Howell – at least, I hope so… ♥
The only door I walked through several times this week gave me a sense of great relief and a rejoiceful spirit… That’s very important here in ‘Twilight’! My doctor – a pretty lady – tells me ‘regularly’ that I’m ‘full of it’!

LOL… I so related to this John — but you found a door — the door to the imagination.
As for my doors… back at Mordor, we now have to use our badges to get OUT the gates (and to the doors) as well as getting in. The gate/badge thing is finicky. You often have to swipe it a few times. So I got in a hurry to get *out* after getting a red light to prevent me leaving… The gate halfway opened, so I went on through. The guard jumped up from his chair and physically blocked my path. Seriously. There’s my SoC for “door.”
I doubt they’d do the same thing if someone was determined to get IN… but then nobody really wants in. 🙂 Happy weekend hugs!

I so relate to this. I used to love to go and would head out my door at the drop of a hat, but now, I just want to stay home. Heck, if I leave, I get behind again and have to hurry to catch up. 🙂 Good one, John.

Do you break out in hives? I do. I wear sunblock everyday rain or shine. I’m getting to the point that I want to be wearing long sleeve shirts too to protect my arms a bit more.
