Wednesday Story Day – AKA – Hump Day

hump day

It is Wednesday Story Day again. Last week Frank Plano went back to Mrs. Murphy in an attempt to find out who was paying the bill for the defense of Lucas. He was armed with the information that Mrs. Murphy had received substantial deposits in her account. When presented with this information Mrs. Murphy told Frank to contact her lawyer. I think we fully expected Frank to hot foot it over to the lower Jason McDonnell. It looks like he is making one stop at the hospital. Yup, there he goes into Lucas’ room. We better get over there.

“Hi, Lucas. How are you feeling?”
“Much better Mr. Plano. Thanks for asking. Didn’t expect a visitor today.”
“Well, I wanted to check on you and ask you something.”
“It looks like I’m getting out of here soon, so I’m feeling pretty good about that.”
“Where are you going to stay when you get released?”
“Mrs. Murphy offered me a room, but I’m not sure about that. My sister thinks she will stay with me at my place.”
“That sounds like a good idea.”
“Yeah except for the fact it’s my sister.”
“Ha ha ha. I know how that can be.”
“You have a sister?”
“No, I just could not imagine having a sister as a roommate.”
“So what is it you wanted to ask?”
“Where is your sister now?”
“I think she is at my place getting it ready.”
“Do you have her phone number?”
“I don’t have my phone here in the hospital. I never did memorize her number. You need to talk to her?”
“I do.”
“What about?”
“I just need to clear up some little details about her and Jason McDonnell.”
“Details? What kind of details?”
“Nothing important. I just want to ask her when she first met Jason.”
“I can tell you that.”
“Oh yes? When?”
“While she was visiting me here. I introduced them.”
“Ah. I see. Okay then. Well, no need to talk to her then.”
“You want me to have her call you?”
“Come to think about it, yeah, maybe it would be good to have her tell me what you just said. You know first-hand rather than second. But no hurry. Here’s my card. Take care of yourself, Lucas.”
“I will, Mr. Plano. You as well.”
“Thanks. Oh, and you can call me Frank.”

Interesting he thinks its a better idea to stay with sister over Mrs. Murphy. And the question of when they met….much more to think about:)

  2. So Frank Piano thinks Jason’s sister is paying for the defence. I suppose nothing could be more natural. I wonder if that means then that she’s come into her half of the inheritance yet has Jason come into his half yet?

    1. Jason has his. The sister hasn’t had time to get hers yet. That is all I’m going to say. Thanks, David.

  7. And now the suspicion shifts back to the sister. I feel like I’m riding on a pendulum, LOL,
You are devious, John. Utterly devious. 🙂

    1. Well the sister must be considered a suspect as is Lucas, the sheriff, Mrs. Murphy, Alice, Jason, Frank, you and me. The only ones we can leave out are the parents.

      3. Erm… are you *sure* you can leave out the parents, John? 😉 Now that would be a twist…

  8. The sister . . .

We leave our regularly scheduled conclusions and are asked to follow this latest twist, and please mind that turn up ahead, it’s a doozie

  12. Ughhhhhh, the sister. This is quite the little web of nut-jobs you’re working with, John. I’m beginning to this we need to put them all in a cage and see who survives.

So now the question is how dumb, or how smart and crafty is Lucas. Wait, isn’t that where we started?

    1. Yes. we started there several years ago (it seems) 😀 Thanks, Dan

  13. Lucas sure has a way with people… Even the detective is responding to his charm. (Apparently anyhow.) If I’ve learned one thing in life, it’s never trust a man that everybody likes. Horsefeathers… just when I was beginning to like Lucas. My brain is twisted up in so many knots… Well done, John.
Oh, and I loved the sheep. They’re stylin’ and look like maybe they’ll go courting the Thistledown powder-puff sheep. 😉 Great big hug.

  15. I knew it was the low-life sister! But why Lucas wants her to stay with him in his apartment… wait! He is planning something!! Will Mr. Nice Lucas have it out with her, or worse? And we still haven’t gotten to Jason yet. These cliffhangers are giving me gray hairs, John. Isn’t that wonderful?
