Views of the Neighborhood -Surf Fishing

As you can see it is a beautiful day. The surf is calm and the winds have slowed. All this means the surf fisherfolk will be out in force. Good time to cruise around and see what we can see.

A young man making breakfast. There is no fish but plenty of bacon. He obviously stayed the night.

Need to have a full bait bucket. He caught and released a shark.

This is how you surf fish. You wade out with a rod and cast as far as you can.

Getting that line ready.

Couple out for a day of fishing. That grill says they have confidence.

Here is a group who have circled the RVs. Pretty safe from wolves.

Here is a shot that could be called, “retrospective for a chair.” Wonder what happens if there is a bite.

You can barely see the guy on top of the camper in a lounge chair. Looks like a cool spot.

Here is how the resorts put up with the sun. Those umbrellas and chairs are set up by the staff.

They even have portable restrooms at this resort.

This is what they use to groom the sand on the beach.

A couple of poles. Looks like they ditched their owners.

Here is what we all hate. Some idiot from San Antonio putting up caution tape to reserve an area that could accommodate twenty people. The big question, “Where the heck are they?” Probably in bed while you are out here trying to find a place. “Go ahead cut the ribbon and pull in.”

  1. I was going to ask why somebody doesn’t either cut the ribbon or shrink their space. Seems so rude.

Also, I thought surf fishing was going to involve surfboards. 😐

    1. It’s likea lot of things, people are afraid to tell others that they are being rude. No surfboards involved. Thanks, Charles.

  4. Increadible event, dear John! The shot with chairs is very special. I guess there are flying fishes jumping straight on a hook in the area 🙂

  6. You could put up a sign on the reserved spot that says “pet restroom.”

  7. Good to know that you have “special” people in Texas, too. The pictures of the poles that have abandoned their owners are really nice photos, John.I love the light on the water.

  8. Good morning, John,
looks like a fantastic day. I think Mary and I should drive down for a few days soon. Btw, Mary likes to fish, whereas I don’t. I remember a time when she sat at the harbour and “bathed her worms”. 😀
    Have a wonderful Sunday,
    Pit

  10. There’s been high excitement here about the flat surf. The whole coast’s been flat. Lots of shark caught, too. I did look, and found your water temperature’s about 6-7 degrees less than ours. It makes that surf fishing just a touch more pleasant.

    1. Of course afer 85 degrees it is all relative. Thaks, Linda.

  11. Well, it does look like you had a pretty day, but I’m not sure I’d spend it surf fishing. Those waves look pretty choppy to a landlubber! Have you ever noticed how standing in water that’s moving puts you a tad off-balance??

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yes it does. These waves were very small.

Methinks that Port A should hire Tiny to police the absentee beach space hoarders. That shot about ‘retrospective for a chair’ reminded me of the college classroom picture of a professor’s tape recorder talking to a room full of student tape recorders. What if there was a fire drill?

    1. Ha haha. Then the recorders will all be in snych.

  19. My Dad loved surf fishing! Thanks for the walk on the beach. As for the guy with the taped off area, I’m on my way with a BIG pair of scissors. Yes, when I was young I probably would have refrained from telling someone what I thought about their rudeness, but now, at my age, it’s a whole different story.

  20. Great pics, John, and I didn’t know about surf fishing. My favorite photos are the lonely chair, the poles that ditched their owners, and the lounge chair on top of the camper. People are creative in any environment. But I agree with the rudeness in the last photo. Although, let’s end on a happy note, a fun day for all. 🙂
