Views of the Neighborhood – A Normal Day

Today’s View of the Neighborhood is very modest since it is the first go around. I thought I would capture a typical day at the beach.

Dawn At the beach

First, we take a look at the early morning sunshine through the rain clouds in a photo taken by the Producer. More rain later but the day is forecast to be sunny.

Day at the beach

Sunny it is. Here is a shot of the crowds. (Yay there are none)

I took a shot of the beach roadway to show how few vehicles there are.

A lone group of swimmers.

I loved the idea of a bunch of friends cooling off, having a couple of drinks, and plenty of conversation.

A lone kite. During the season the sky is full.

A lone golf cart tells the story of the off-season.

  1. Good to see you back in action, John.
My recollection of living in a beach resort is of spending the summer bemoaning the crowds and elevated prices for everything, and the winter complaining because 80% of the businesses were seasonal and so closed.
No pleasing some folk, is there?

    1. Thans, Keith. Most of our businesses stay open year round so no complaints here.

Sorry, I’m a late comer to your blog John. I gather this is a beach in America, but where is it? Do they ride golf carts on the sand?? Nice morning photo.

    1. This is a beach on the South Texas coast. The town is Port Aransas and sits on a fifteen mile long barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico. Yes we drive our golf carts on the beach and in town. Thanks so much for the visit Melissa.

  4. A pretty cool neighbourhood if you ask me!! Beaches still busy here in Spain but not quite as much as in July and August.

    1. Yes there are a few folks who put off vacation until September. They don’t like crowds anymore than we do. Thanks, Darlene.

John, it has to be a huge relief to see that kind of “crowd” at the beach. I enjoyed the bit about the group of friends and conversation. It gave a nice feeling.
That kite is spectacular. I’m glad you caught a pic of it. Have a sublime Sunday, my friend. Hugs.

  16. John,

I remember how much I used to love flying kites. Those images really brought me back to that time, thank you.
    And a mostly deserted beach . . I am a big fan.

  18. I imagine you’re grateful another off-season has arrived. I know tourists boost the local economy, but gee, what a mess they too often leave behind. These are gorgeous shots, making me wish I lived closer to water (though honestly, we’ve had enough rain water to last us for several days!)

  26. I checked your weather history, and it looks like you’ve had some rain. Those blue skies and empty beaches are lovely, but a little precip coming to visit’s good, too. It’s good to see you out roaming the sand again!
