A little Personal – Lucy and Twiggy at Play

Lucy and Twiggy

“So, Twiggy. You called?”

“Yes, Dad I did. Lucy has my key chew toy and won’t let me have it.”

“Well, Y’all know toys are to be shared so you two work it out.”

“Well, I guess calling the boss didn’t do much good.”

“I had to try. Are you going to share the keys with me?”

“Of course I will share.”

“So here are the keys. You want them?”

“How about we play hunter and prey?”

“Looks like you’re already done in.”

“Ha. I was just fooling. I’ve got the keys now.”

“You know Twiggy it is risky trying to fool someone three times your size.”

“Like I said it’s risky and so now I have the keys.”

“You did teach me a lesson, Lucy. I can see you are not easily fooled.”

“Don’t forget that I have also been around a while. Bailey tries everything she can to fool me.”

“How does that work out?”

“Go ask her.”

“While you are up how about getting that cool elf and we can play tug ‘o war.”

“I thought you liked the piggy.”

“Ever since you came along I haven’t really felt the need to play with the piggy.”

“Hey wait a minute. I’m just thinking over that piggy comment. What did you mean?”

“Well, I have to say it is more fun playing with you than the rubber piggy.”

“You weren’t making comparisons then?”

“Heavens no. There is no one around here that reminds me of a little piggy.”

“Are those paws crossed?”

I love these dialogues, John. And, the photos are fantastic. Thank you for the morning levity and sweetness. Hugs to your pups.

  2. That was funny. I love the steps going up to the couch. I assume those are for Twiggy.

    1. They are for Twiggy. She can’t get up herself and it gets tiresome lifting her up each time she wants on the couch.

      1. Maybe it’s just those with short dogs. Mine need them in the bedroom. They can jump on the couch.

  5. I also have doggie steps at my house… for a nearly 100-pound dog with hip dysplasia. (At least only one of the two need the help.) And we have a similar assortment of toys.

Another fabulous dialogue (and set of photos). I love the crossed paws comment at the end. Made my morning. 🙂

    1. Glad you liked it, Staci. Lucy has a hip issue as well. She refuses to use the stairs. We do have an elevator to move her from floor to floor which really helps.

  10. It occurs to me I’ve never known dogs with their very own sofa, but that looks like it might qualify, especially with the steps. Those dogs of yours are living the canine version of la dolce vita, that’s for sure.

  26. I do enjoy these conversations between the pets. They’re so cute!

I bought Diva Dog some steps to save her muscles from jumping, but she won’t use them! After she tore a muscle I had to block the sofa, and our bed to keep her from jumping up on them, then tried the steps again when she healed…no joy. Now I just keep her from jumping by putting beds for her everywhere so she doesn’t jump on the sofa or the bed anymore.

Next pup I’m just going to start with the little steps.

    1. We actually got the steps for Lucy. She refuses to use them. Twiggy loves them.
