“So Lucy. What’s going on?”
“I’m a little worried, Boss.”
“What about?”
“Baily’s over there rolling around on the grass not paying attention.”
“Paying attention to what?”
“She’s supposed to be watching Twiggy.”
“Now look. She is actually laying down.”
“I’m sure everything is fine.”
“You don’t understand the dangers, Boss. I’m going over there.”
“Bailey. Get up.”
“Gee Lucy. What’s the problem?”
“You’re supposed to be watching Twiggy. That’s the problem.”
“Lucy. She is right behind me. If anything came in here, I would be on it like a duck on a Junebug.”
“Have you done the fence line? Have you scouted the perimeter?”
“Well, no. I see no need.”
“No need? How many coyotes does it take to get over this fence?”
“Okay, I’ll bite. How many?”
“Just one. One is all it would take. How surprised would you be if one jumped in here?”
“Lucy we’ve not had a coyote jump the fence.”
“I’m behind this giant Bird of Paradise where you should be.”
“Oh brother. Twiggy, come closer. I think the sister is going to have a breakdown.”
“All right Bailey. I’m really close now. Lucy don’t you worry.”
“Easy for you two to say. I have real responsibilities around here.”
“And we love you for that, sister dear.”
Seems Lucy is a control freak!

This is a classic, John! I loved it! They sure are living the good life, aren’t they?

I hope so. That is what we are put on the Earth to ensure. (At least according to Lucy, Bailey, and Twiggy)

So sweet. I love these episodes. Twiggy and the family are safe with Lucy and Bailey keeping watch. It would take a pack of coyotes to cause real damage. 😀

The claymore mines on the other side of the fence pretty much assure safty inside the fence.

No wonder there aren’t any coyotes around.

It seems as though Lucy shares a trait that my mother exhibited: what-iffing. The ability to imagine threats does help keep us safe, but continually asking, “What if…?” also can keep us prowling the fence line unnecessarily!

That is Lucy for sure. Thank you, Linda.

What a great dog family! I love them all, and they are so cute! You have coyotes? We do, too, so we had curfews for our animals…and leashes if they needed a good walk…

Yup. They live in the dunes. Less than a 100 yards from us.

I didn’t expect that about the coyotes, John. But they seem to be everywhere now. Hugs.

I had to laugh at the reference to the fence line and the perimeter. No matter what these three are up to, they’re always entertaining!

Protective siblings are so sweet. Lovely to see all three of them getting along. I hope Lucy has settled down, content to know the coyotes aren’t around.

Don’t try consoling, John. I want a repoduction of my old ‘Toby’ or I’m going to leave Julie Anne at the altar! Oops! We’re past that! I’ll leave home! Naw, I’ll just cry and pout til I get my way…that used to work pretty well…now I’m old and nobody cares! Please care, John! I need you to care, John! Send me a ‘Golden’ John! Oh, okay, I’ll be grown-up about it! Bye for now! ♥

Yes buck up. I told Lucy your problem and she said, “Tell Billy Ray that I have adopted him.” So there you are Billy Ray. Lucy is your new owner.

LOL. Love it John. So Lucy is a rescue, right? I think her former career was with the Secret Service. 😀 I got a chuckle from “like a duck on a Junebug” too. Hugs!

Lucy is rescue. I think she was assigned to the Marine Corps.

Oh My Goodness Baily – nothing is as important as the perimeter!
I’d say it’s a good thing Lucy’s on duty, John. Maddie doesn’t do anything (and I mean ANY THING) without checking the perimeter first. Someone needs to learn the little one right!
They are adorable 🙂

Twiggy does more of the perimeter than Bailey. Bailey is pretty okay with the way things are so she doesn’t look for trouble.

Does Lucy ever give it a rest? She’s gonna stress herself out silly if she doesn’t take it down a notch.. 🙂

Lucy is the stress queen in our house. She keeps track of meal times, walk times, brishie times, bed times, wake up times. biscut times and yard rucus times. Poor thing.

There is always that one in the family that takes it upon themselves to be in charge…. I would say poor thing but they often choose this path 😉
