It is Stream of Consciousness Saturday again and this week’s prompt is “flower/flour. Linda Hill says we can use one or both but in any case “have fun.” I think I can do that. If you would like to join in go to Linda’s blog and read how easy it is. Here is the link. https://lindaghill.com/2018/09/21/the-friday-reminder-and-prompt-for-socs-sept-22-18/

“I wonder if you know the difference?”
“What difference?”
“Between flower power and flour power.”
“Sound the same to me.”
“F-l-o-w-e-r power and f-l-o-u-r power.”
“Oh. I’m guessing you have been up the hill to see Linda.”
“Well, there is a prompt going on today.”
“Let me guess. Flower and flour.”
“Right on.”
“Hmmm. A phrase out of the sixties.”
“Which should give you a hint on flower power.”
“I really don’t need a hint. I remember studying the sixties protests very well.”
“So what was flower power?”
“It was not a what but a symbol to end the madness. Folks used the flower as a metaphor for peace. Allen Ginsberg the poet coined the term in 1965 as a symbol for peaceful affirmative action to end the war in Vietnam.”
“My goodness. I didn’t know all that. So what is flour power?”
“Something you made up?”
“Yeah, I did.”
“You tell me what it means.”
“I think it stands for all those cooks out there who make wonderful things to eat out of flour.”
“Okay, so I would say the difference is flower power stands for a movement and flour power stands for skill in baking.”
“Couldn’t have said it better myself.”
“Wish you had.”
“Had what?”
“Said it yourself. You and these prompts will be the end of me someday.”
“Oh come on. You always get engaged.”
“But never married.”
“We still talking about the prompts?”
I’ll stick with your story, John!! Both my flower and flour experiences never end well! 🙂

😀 These imaginary dialogues are so much fun. I love the last few lines. Engaged but not married … very clever ending. Have a great day, John.

Conjuring up some crazy memories today, John. Time to change into your tie-died shirt and bell bottoms and take those girls for a walk.

PLUS, I was worse than a ‘flower child’ – I visited bars and chased women so much, I was the color or ‘flour’! How ’bout that! Twice in one day I do ‘prompt’! ♥

As more and more people are gluten intolerant or celiac, methinks flour power will take on a new meaning – Punch in the Gut vs Flower Power, Peaceful Protest…
Fun one and have to agree with all about that killer last line 🙂

Thank you, Dale. As you can imagine I’ve heard that line before.

As with certain images you present as per the given prompt, I started laughing as soon as I read “Flower/Flour” because I KNOW you all too well mister. And of course, you did not disappoint.
Big fan of the flower power, as well as your version of flour power . . . as . . umm . . half baked as it was, LOL.
Thank you for letting us have our flowers, and allowing us to eat them too!

Makes me wonder if one could grow flowers in a bag of flour. I have a hunch it would work.

Need water for the flowers. Add water to flour and you have paste. Once it dries you would have dead flowers in paste.

Maybe, maybe not. I know all about dough, but I’ve also seen trees crack foundations and such with their roots.

I love the flower power. I’ve got a permanent visual for that era from the movie Forrest Gump — I know, it should probably come from history class, but that was never a strong subject for me. Great post!
