Thursday – A Little Personal – Lucy, Bailey, and Twiggy Try to Play

The rainy weather is still with us and it presents a challenge to the canines.

Twiggy, Lucy, Bailey

“I’m going to bite off your ear.”

“Oh, no please spare me.”

“That was a good ear bite move, Little One. But now you are going to die.”

“Oh, I’m so afraid, Lucy you big ole cow.”

“Okay, you two. Looks like the smack talk is getting out of hand. Time to take it outside.”

“But it is raining.”

“Not now so move it.”

“Man take a look at that pelican in the pond.”

“Hold on. I’ll be right there.”

“I’ve never seen one in there before.”

“Do you think he is okay, Lucy?”

“Yes, I do. What do you think, Bailey?”

“It just flew off, so I would say it is fine.”

“Lucy the pelican flew over that house across the street.”

“I’m wondering what game we can play?”

“I thought I left the ball over there.”

“No, Twiggy. We passed the ball coming out here.”

“Yeah, Twiggy. It is right in the middle of the yard.”

“I don’t know Bailey. She still has something on her mind.”

“I still can’t get over the pelican in the pond.”

“Small stuff. You need to move on.”

“Okay, can I name the game?”

“Anything to get you off the pelican.”

“No fair peeking. This game is called night ball. You have to find it in the dark.”

“Twiggy. You come up with the weirdest games.”

“Fun though, Right?”

  1. Our dog, Dot won’t go out in the rain. Good thing we live in Spain where the sun shines just about every day!! BTW Dot is three years old today!!

  2. I don’t go out in the rain. It hardly ever rains here in South Africa and South Africans melt in rain so when it does occasionally rain we can’t go out, socialise or drive.

  3. The night ball thing reminds me of the silly games my son comes up with. The rules tend to favor him too. Gotta love kids and puppies.

Another great photo story. It’s wonderful the three pups have each other. Rain or shine, they have a ready-made playmate. Otherwise, it would be you or the producer searching for the ball. 😀

  5. So cute. I’ll bet they can cause trouble playing inside. Twiggy’s energy level must be off the dial.

Speaking of night ball, John. WVU v Baylor. Maddie’s rooting for blue & gold. How about Twiggy?

    2. Twiggy, Lucy, Bailey, The Producer and I are rooting for WVU. This is in spite of paying for an undergrad degree for the youngest at Baylor. (We are still pissed at the Baylor Athlectic department’s handling of player animal and human abuse cases.)

      1. Thanks for the support. I understand the motivation, but I’ll take it any way we can get it. WVU has a tough month coming up.

  7. We’re driving games are necessary for sanity, I’m sure. And unlike Robbie we English grow in the rain, although it means we look like prunes mostly. Not the Textiliste, natch.

    1. We Texans need our sunshine. We also look like prunes but from our tanned hides. 😀

      2. I think it is more like we have been forced at gunpoint (certainly not by any UK residents) to take on more rain than we are used to having. It may be that someone wants the South Americans who are headed here to feel at home when they arrive.

  8. Obviously, ‘stir-crazy’ and ‘cabin-fevered’ aren’t only human afflictions. Thank goodness we’re finally done with it all for a few days, and the weekend looks great. Sometimes, the best fall color is blue — as in the sky!

  13. I look forward to this all week.

Your girls aren’t rain dogs, huh? My guys don’t care for it, either. I try to schedule their breaks around the weather when I can, but that won’t be happening today. I’ll take them out, and they’ll stand on the covered patio and look up at me like I’m trying to melt them.

I’m sure Lucy didn’t care for the ear-biting game. Night ball seems a better choice for all of them. Twiggy sure is inventive. Maybe she can get the pelican to play.

  15. It’s usually so hot here that Scribbles and I enjoy going for walks when it’s sprinkling. A light rain can be so refreshing but once we hear a rumble we run back home because we know lighting follows thunder and Florida lighting storms are no joke. Why was Twiggy so surprised to see a pelican out in the pond? There’s fish in the pond, right? Or was it her first time seeing a big bird out there?

    1. We never have pelicans on the pond. They fish the Gulf. I was concerned the pelican was injured.

I don’t blame Twiggy for her fascination as far as pelicans are concerned. I’m right there with her. And night ball sounds like a game my Dolphins would be good at. No lights, no chance . . .
