Stream of Consciousness Saturday – Prompt “Point”

Stream of Consciousness

It is Stream of Consciousness Saturday again and this weeks prompt is a bit different so I thought I would quote Linda Hill.

“Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “point.” Open a book on your lap, close your eyes, and put your finger on the page. Whatever you land on, whether it be a word, a phrase, or a sentence, write about it. Enjoy! “

If you would like to join this fun visit Linda’s blog and read how. Here is the link. https://lindaghill.com/2018/11/02/the-friday-reminder-and-prompt-for-socs-nov-3-18/

I opened a book in my lap and my finger fell on the sentence, “I smiled at his tone.” So here goes.

I Smiled at His Tone by John W. Howell © 2018

“I can’t believe it is November already.”

“I know right? The days go by so quickly it is hard to keep up with them.”

“Well, I don’t know about that. I just know that I’m not sure I can face Daylight Savings Time again.”

“What is so hard. You go to bed and sleep in another hour.”

“Yeah and get up while it is pitch black out.”

“So what can you do about it?”

“I went to city hall.”

“What? What for?”

“To complain to the city council.”

“And?”

“I met with our representative and explained that I would like to have Daylight Savings Time suspended.”

“So tell me what did the representative say?”

“He looked at me and then asked me to leave.”

“What did you do?”

“I smiled at his tone. Then I told him he would have to call the police to get me out of his office.”

“So did he?”

“I have a court appearance next Tuesday.”

“And Daylight Savings Time.”

“Still on.”

  2. I hear you about time going swiftly, John. It seemed like only a few days ago that I was on summer vacation.

    1. I know what you mean. Unfortunately vacation time flies faster than normal time anyway. Thanks, Mark.

    1. I know what you mean. Our dogs usually get up at 6:30. Tomorrow they will get up at their usual time which will be 5:30 standard time. Happy Saturday to you. *sung to the tune of Slow Ride by Foghat.

    1. I was a little intimadated when it happened. I thought I would cheat and go for another. Decided to go with it. Thanks, GP.

Good one, John. I’m for a constant time, which I think Arizona and maybe Florida now have. It’s just simpler. 😀

  6. Hmmm, I’d like to put an end to DST but I guess I’ll take civil disobedience off the list. See you in court.

As for time flying by, it is getting hard to keep up. Before you know it, I’ll be wishing you a happy new year. For now, have a great weekend, John.

Here in the UK the clocks went back last weekend, and it is so dark now way too early. Can’t believe where this year has gone. Have a great weekend, John 🙂

  9. Great take on the prompt for the day. I agree with you, DLST is a pain! Happy Saturday – hope you enjoy the ‘extra’ hour of sleep.

  10. I’ve never had a problem adjusting to the time changes. In fact, I may be the only person out there who enjoys both. I like getting up early in the summer, and winter seems to deserve the Standard Time setting.

  11. John,

    Buahahaha!

To put it in a positive light, he has an extra hour to prepare for his court appearance . . .

I’m not a fan of time changing, but this one is getting my hour back:) I would like them to pick a time and leave it.

  14. LOL. Great post, John. The time change (either direction) wears me out. I do like Daylight Saving time better, but I wish they’d just pick one and leave it alone. Happy weekend hugs.

  15. Good one, John. Of the two, “falling back” is my favorite even though I desperately despise so much darkness. There’s something about losing an hour of sleep in the spring that ruins my whole week…
