Friday and another weekend is almost here. This week has been a matter of caring for Bailey and continuing the work on the WIP edits. We have an appointment with the editor in January, so the deadline is getting near. My productivity has not been the best this last week, but I have managed to keep plugging.
I am actually writing this post from the Oncology office of the Blue Pearl Animal clinic in San Antonio. In conjunction with the vets, we have decided on the course of treatment which will include chemotherapy and regular blood panel checking. Unfortunately, Bailey’s liver has been compromised, and the easiest treatment is also the hardest on the liver. So we will have to do intravenous therapy rather than a pill.
This means a greater chance of side effects and rules out home treatment. Will will have to travel to get the treatment and Bailey does not travel well, but we will all have to bear a little inconvenience to keep her feeling well. Today’s JohnKu talks about worthwhile effort.
An effort by John W. Howell
Inconveniences,
Can be well tolerated. . .
For a noble cause.
Great JohnKu, John. I can understand why your productivity has been low…mine has as well due to my parents health issues. Praying for sweet Bailey.

Sorry about your parents. Sad when those we love begin to feel the results of time. My prayers are for you. ❤

John, when the choice becomes one between your health and you dog’s health, or making a business appointment or hitting a productivity target, choose health. Everything else can wait (it’s easy for me to say that, as I don’t allow any pressures!)

BTW, I meant choose human and pet health. Work, as they say, is a four-letter word.

Poor Bailey. She’s got a tough row to hoe, as my mom used to say. (She worked in the cotton fields.) But, you are so right. No inconvenience is too much for such a noble cause.

Sad to hear about Bailey. We all wish her well… by the way, does that make you her support animal? Given your love of dogs, I am sure you would make a good one. 🙂

It’s hard on everyone, but as long as it can make a difference… We understand how this goes, John. We’ll pray for safe travels, a bit of tolerance to the treatments and some good couch time for Bailey.

Don’t you wish we could talk with our animals, to help them understand what’s happening when their routines change so much? I’m glad Bailey has such a good support team.

It would be good to be able to talk to them. Maybe they would be less concerned.

Prayers for ALL of you, my friend. Bailey is blessed to have such a loving, caring family; and you’re blessed to have her, however long that might be. Only those who have trod your path truly understand how difficult it is … but how worthwhile!!

Oh, your poor sweet girl! I know she would rather be at home, but at least she’ll have you with her as she goes for her treatments. I will be saying prayers for Bailey’s recovery. She is a very special part of your family.

I’m sorry to hear about Bailey’s health and poor baby doesn’t travel well either.
It’s so hard when one medicine to treat the problem can cause detrimental problems to other parts of the body. We’re dealing with that with Diva Dog. One medicine for her heart will undo her kidney’s before her heart goes out the vet said. It’s not easy, is it?
I get the inconvenience. Keeping feeling better, and giving her the best quality of life you can is worth it.
