A beautiful day. Here is a shot of the beach at about eight o’clock Saturday morning
The Producer and I decided to check out the shipping channel to see if any boats were on their way to the Gulf. Sure enough, that orange thing way down there is headed our way.
You can see the Port Aransas/Aransas Pass Ferry making it’s way to Port Aransas.
This is a shot of the Port Police boat.
Now we are getting somewhere. The ship is almost upon us.
There she is, The Eagle Kinarut a crude oil tanker built in 2011 and currently sailing under the flag of Singapore. She arrived in Corpus Christi on January 3rd and passed Port Aransas on January 5th. If you would like to know her exact position right now click on this link
Obviously riding high after unloading her cargo.
Now heading for the Gulf. Till next time.
Good pictures, John. 🙂 — Suzanne

Wow, incredible photos, John. I clicked on the link and was amazed to find so many ships at sea. I hope today is like yesterday, sunny and warm. All the best to you and yours!

I do love seeing the ships plying the Houston ship channel, especially when dolphins are surfing their bow waves. Do you get to see that? I know you have dolphins, but the ships’ speeds may be slower there, and the bow waves not so prominent. Great shots, on a beautiful day.

We do get dolphins surfing bow waves. We also get humans surfing tanker waves as well. I took about twenty shots in a row and finally caught a dolphin totally out of the water in front of a big ship.

I’ve always liked to watch the ships in the channel.
Have a wonderful Sunday, John,

Cool ship. Hope they didn’t scare the fish away for all those fishermen.

The fish re pretty used to the big ones. Of course, none of the fisherfolk were catching anything.

Thansk for the guided tour, John. I always like seeing the ships. I cliched on the vessel finder link, wow, you have a lot of activity in your area.

I noticed all those fishing poles, John. Do they catch much there and have you tried it out?

They do catch a lot of fish. I have not fished from this spot. Thanks, Jacquie.

The water’s so darn calming, isn’t it?
And yet, the body of water that my home ins named for is anything but calming and has the opposite effect on people.
Life’s funny.

Love the effect of watching that tiny orange blot become a huge tanker. And I really dig that tracking device!

Now that’s one big ship. For the record, The Producer (from this end) was not only assured that nobody else had that name, but also that nobody else would ever have that name. Now he’s grumbling much more than normal … obviously agitated.

Looks like a beautiful day, John. If I lived there, I’d be tempted to plop myself on the beach with a book and read every day. I’d never get anything accomplished.

When I visit my parents in MN we usually go to Duluth to watch the ships come in and leave. They’re HUGE! 🙂

Great pics, John. When visiting a port, I am always fascinated by the size of these ships and that even fully loaded, they still stay afloat.
