“Here’s the other screen, Twiggy.”
“I hear we are getting a fence.”

“You better leave that stuff alone. You have no idea how it may affect you.”

Dot is the same. This morning she was sniffing around some bushes in the park we visit near our house and uncovered a procession caterpillar. They are poisonous for dogs. Sure enough a few minutes later she was vomiting and weak at the knees. So a mad rush to the vet was made. She had some shots and is resting now. Honestly. What a scare.

Nice yard! Once you get the fence up, the dogs will have a wonderful place to frolic. As for Twiggy and the mulch, I feel you. Our chocolate Lab Beau seems to think that the mulch is laid out as an appetizer for him to gnosh on anytime he’s outside. 😳

Doesn’t it drive you crazy? When we lived on the coast I had the yard in pristine condition so there was nothing to grab. Here, there is everything simply for the taking. She cannot be left alone and until we get the yard done, and that’s how it is. Thanks, Lori.

Twiggy is attracted to anything laying around. I think it is a bulldog thing. She picks up rocks, leaves, and sticks. Drives us up the wall. We are constantly sweeping her mouth for objects.

Is that mulch pulverized rubber, or dyed black? Not that it makes any practical difference, of course. I never would have thought about a dog eating mulch, but clearly I still have a lot to learn about bulldogs — or Twiggy, at least. it does look like you got a minimalist yard to go with the contemporary lines of your house!

Yes the yard is basically a field that has been mowed so it is about as minimal as you can get. These are cedar chips that have been decomposed. At least I think so. We need to get rid of the stuff for sure.

I love that Twiggy went and laid in the mulch. Both of my dogs did that when they were little and we were landscaping the front (where they almost never are). It’s so cute. But you’re right; they shouldn’t chew on/eat that stuff.

Wow, John, you even scared me. I’m not used to you yelling. It’s good to see the girls getting used to the new space. When Maddie was a puppy, she would eat every stick and twig – our yard was never as clean as it was that year – I hope it’s just a teething thing.
I think mulch is the worst landscaping idea to ever see the light of day.

It looks like they have a lot of yard to explore. I bet they’ll really be excited with the new landscaping and when the fence goes in. When I yell at my cat like you yelled at Twiggy she looks at me, then goes back to doing whatever it was I didn’t want her doing, LOL. Hopefully, Twiggy is a better listener.

It certainly seems if you don’t want them to chew on something they will:) We have a lab that even at the mature the of almost 12 still has to be watched or will get himself into trouble. Nice to have a yard to work with and the time of year to do it.

It will keep me busy. I’m planning on some raised beds for veggys, and a nice lawn for the pups. At the coast almost nothing survived the salt and wind.

Aw, I love looking at the world through Lucy and Twiggy’s eyes! They’re close to the ground so they notice everything. Yep, I’d probably get rid of that mulch, too. But I think it’s cool they get to explore off-leash once in a while. Dallas loves his fenced backyard and said to tell you that will free up your time occasionally!

Well, it didn’t take long for the Little Potato to get in trouble 😉 We can no longer have flowers in our house because Wendy will eat the leaves … and then vomit them up later. Since she’s a cat, there’s no place high enough to keep her from them. Finger sweeping. That’s a new concept for me. Good luck with finger sweeping Twiggy 🙂
