There is a monthly garage sale in Lakeway at the Activity Center. The entrance to the event is free but a donation of food or money to help the homeless and the animal shelter is suggested.
This 8,100 square foot building, with a theater seating capacity of 400, or a dinner seating capacity of 250, also has smaller meeting rooms, a full size commercial kitchen, a raised stage complete with modern computer operated lighting and sound systems, a baby grand piano, dressing rooms for performers and a large drop-down front projection screen. The Activity Center is a beautiful venue. I hope you enjoy the tour.

The inlays on the walk are dedication bricks. The guy is thinking of buying that trimmer, but he couldn’t get it started.

Inside the Center, you can see the mirrored ball and chandeliers which are a nod to dances, weddings, and other events. There are room dividers for smaller events.

I liked the idea of “Do What You Love.” Good advice for all of us.
The Center also has a stage for theatrical productions. These lamps made good use of the dark.

Anyone can set up a section at the Activity Center. Also residents can have a garage sale if all items are kept inside the garage. There are not too many garage sales as a result of the rule. Thanks, Dale. 😊

I figured that might be the case.
We are only allowed garage/yard sales the third weekends of the months from May to October (unless we ask for a special permit…)

Indeed, I did, John. I hope that guy got the trimmer working. Such a wonderful building. It seems to have everything to connect the local society. I love the idea of donating food for the homeless and/or animal shelter as an entrance fee. Did you buy anything?

We did not buy anything. It’s funny because we need everything. Unfortunately most of the items that might work were not in the contemporary style we need. A lot of county style, as you can imagine. Our house is not typical for the area. Thanks, Hugh.

We could’t find a thing. The no start was why I went to a battery powered one. I still have rotator cuff problems from pulling.

It’s the fuel. Since I switched to the terribly expensive premixed, prestabalized fuel. Everything starts with one or two pulls. I had a battery powered one but the battery died and is no longer made.

I can see you’re enjoying the change in architectural style from that of Port A. Personally, I love the veranda — those chairs are most inviting, and I like how they’ve incorporated the outdoors into the interior areas. Hope the donations help the hungry (both two- and four-legged!)

Thanks for the tour, John. It does look like a lovely center, and I really like the idea of a monthly garage sale. It has to be so much more convenient for people who just want to offload a few items and not want to deal with advertising and worry about weather. Around here, most people still do garage sales from their driveway and it never seems to be worth the time and effort. I’m so glad you and the Producer and Lucy and Twiggy are settling in to such a nice neighborhood.

One of the churches in my town has a monthly parking lot sale. I never take the time to stop but love looking as I drive by it. 🙂

Beautiful building, John. I always think Oregon when it comes to craftsman style architecture. This looks like ‘modern craftsman’. Lovely! To have this as a neighborhood center is terrific, from weddings to theater to garage sales. Lakeway must be feeling like home.

Great blog piece, John! Such an incredible building. I’m a huge fan of yard/garage sales. I hit dozens of them during the spring/summer/fall season. That’s where I find music, books, and other cool items somebody decided they no longer need. Thanks for sharing!
