Views of the Neighborhood – Lakeway Skate Park and Pool

Happy Easter to you.  This week our walk is to visit the skate park and community pool in Lakeway. It is a beautiful Easter day so come along.

The first stop is an informative sign pointing out that dinosaurs used to roam this area. There a couple of footprint replicas below the information.

Outside the pool area is a climbing wall for the youngest.

What is water without a sand volleyball court?

Here is part of the skate park. Looks like fun if I were 15. Now at my age, it seems like it would be a one way trip to the ER.

You can see the pool from one of the lips of the skatepark.

Signs warning that you could kill yourself but if so, don’t sue us.

The skatepark is on the site of the old community pool. Here is a ten-foot basin that you can skate into but not necessarily back out.

A shot of the pool. The pool was closed so getting inside for some great shots was not possible.

I did poke my camera through the fence for this shot. You can see the water slide and water. The shadow on the right is what I overcame.

I hope you enjoyed the walk. Have a great week

  1. Looks like a family friendly neighbourhood. My son would have loved that skateboard park. I spent a few years watching him and praying he wouldn’t get hurt. He never did.

    1. I found a solution that works for me. If you refresh the page, everything will pop up as normal. I’ve encountered the problem on several blogs.

  6. It’s a beautiful park, John. My son spent a lot of time skateboarding until the doctor father of a friend told him he would injure his joints and suffer for it later. He stopped doing it right away. He never injured himself while doing it thank goodness. Happy Easter. 🙂 — Suzanne

  10. I just can’t wrap my mind around skateboarding, but if I were going to do such a thing, that looks like a great spot to do it. If I tried it now, I’d surely be wrapped around that fence, or something equally nasty. It’s great that they have a dedicated spot where the kids can do their thing and stay out of the traffic, though. Happy Easter to you!

  11. If we had had a park like this when we were kids, John, we might not have made it this far. It took longer for ambulances to respond back then.

Great photos. Oh to be a kid again.

  15. I’m right with you on the one-way trip to the ER, John! Still, it’s nice that your area offers a bit of this ‘n that for all the residents. Our pools here don’t typically open until after the school term ends (I think they’re hoping for warm weather by then!). Happy Easter to you and yours!

  18. These pics make me think back to the time when I realized I could never be a serious skateboarder.
True story, it was back in the misplaced seventies of my way too unstructured youth where I pondered such a life. I even met Mitch Hitchcock, who . . sadly, came of age before the Tony Hawk era of business. So it went nowhere friendly for him. Me? I switched up to bikes, thanks to Evel Knievel.
