Here it is Friday again. This week has been the week of notables. The fence guys arrived and finished the fence in three days. The pups can now cavort in safety with no sightline to deer. Twiggy’s bark-a-thons at the deer are now confined to only brief sightings from the house.
Our bed arrived after three months. So nice to be up off the floor. We need to accomodate Lucy’s arthritic hips with a bench. (Yes she needs to be on the bed) Twiggy’s life is unchanged. She could not get up when the bed was on the floor so she still gets a lift.
My desk arrived just yesterday. The office is pretty much done except for a bench. The dreaded futon is in there now but has an appointment with Goodwill.
The outdoor furnature arrived in eleven different packages on four different days. I mentioned to the FedEx guy, “I bet you hate us.” He responded with “Sometimes.” I had to laugh out loud and agree. He was stuggling with a box weighing 132 pounds (60Kilos)at the time. The fence guys had blocked the driveway so he was forced to go through gravel to get to the porch.
The call is out to two landscapers. More on that later.

Happy that so many things came together for you this week, John. We, too, are in the home stretch, with anticipated closure in late June. Getting settled into a new home is definitely a marathon rather than a sprint! 🙄

Looks like we could be moving out in the first few days of June. The other end, according to the papers lodged with the solicitors, will be at least three weeks later. Good job we have a motorhome – perhaps we’ll call it a holiday.

I would say you should call it a holiday. It is a good thing you have the motorhome. Will you store your things and can you tow the car?

I wish we could tow the car – it’s all the thing can do to pull itself sometimes. We’ll cross to England with the dogs and me in the camper and Clare in the old Astra. The Twingo will stay behind and be sold. Both the other vehicles will come back later to be sold, too, and we’ll buy a car in UK when we can. We aren’t moving any furniture to UK, it cost £4000 to come down 13 years ago and the cost now would be more like £6000. That will buy a decent starter set of stuff when we move in. The things we want to take but can’t fit into the car will go in a friend’s barn and be vanned up to us a couple of weeks later

Every morning five or six deer are in the front. The Mama and fawn come a little later. The mother puts the fawn in a safe place and goes off to eat. We see them all every day. Twiggy is finally accepting them in the yard.

Having that deer and her fawn wander through would be the highlight of my week. Of course, having the FedEx guy wander through’s fun, too, but I’ll bet he’s not as cute as that fawn.

What you do now is congratulate yourselves on surviving the upheaval, enjoy your new surroundings, and live life to the fullest!! Glad things are taking shape, John. Those deer are darling, but I’ve heard they can be mean. Probably meaner than an overburdened FedEx guy!

What a sweet picture of the mama and baby deer. That is a productive week for you! I’m pretty sure our FedEx and UPS drivers hate us….lol. i have heavy dog food and cat pellets delivered and Petco puts it all together in heavy boxes. Ive found them by our garage doors, and way out by the street (long driveway). Never by the front door. Then there’s the bigger items….

Haha! At this point, me being on par with the ending of the Johnku seems like the next century. Ya’ll are making great progress with the new digs, John. Good going about Lucy’s bench.
I had promised Crystal window seats in every room of our new home. Well, I’ve managed to rig things, “steps” to the top of the scratching post, etc. But the only thing she trusts is the love-seat-to-window route in the living room. (She’s never been a jumper.) So I gave up and ordered a chair for the bedroom. It arrived yesterday — hopefully not too many pieces to put together… Hugs!
