As I have written on past Memorial Days all ten things not to do on this day are the same. Do not fail to remember those who gave their lives to keep us free.
I hope you have a peaceful Memorial Day.

They fought for the best of intentions, following their officer’s command and doing what needed to be done. Your post is perfect, John. We cannot forget…

I’ve always thought Walt Whitman’s “Dirge for Two Veterans one of the best poems for this day. It’s honest and dignified: qualities we need to reclaim as we honor those who sacrificed for us.

Good one. Though, I’m seeing more people mix it up with Veterans Day this year. Always awkward to see.

One group is still with us and the other has gone. Hard to mix up.

Yeah. I think some people just hear ‘military’ and don’t go further.

Memorial Day? I just tried to comment on your ten things about New Year’s post. The comments seemed to be closed. I reckon I’m runnin’ late this year.

Hmmm. I wonder if WP closes them cause I don’t. Better late than never I say. 😀

Simple and to the point, John. We must not forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy and too often take for granted.

I was working so it was anything but peaceful, John, but it was profitable, so that’s all that matters.
But the significance of the day wasn’t lost on me so that’s really all that matters, isn’t it?

So true, Hook. That’s all that matters.
