Views of the Neighborhood – Book Fair McKinney Texas

Today’s neighborhood visit is in McKinney, Texas, which is a four and one half hour drive from my neighborhood. The book fair is sponsored by Texas Authors as part of the Texas Author Book Fair Network.

I decided to stay in an AirB@B in McKinney. It was in the country and very quiet. I loved the bench backrest. It was a tailgate.

Other authors and I got together for dinner. Award-winning author Jan Sikes and I got a chance to catch up. She and I are both members of Rave Reviews Book Club. It was great seeing her again.

I thought it would be interesting to take a shot of the room before it was set up. You can see it is a lovely room.

Here is the room almost filled.

  7. What a great bench. I love staying in AirBnBs, so much more personal than a cold hotel room.
Must be so fun to share these events with fellow authors.

  12. The best part of these fairs is meeting and talking with readers. Great that you got to meet up with Jan. She and I only know one another by telephone.

  16. It looks like a good time was had by all and good weather. Cozy AirB@B. I like B & Bs but have never tried the Air thing. Good looking set up by the stage. You are probably closer to these type of events in Austin rather than Port A.

  20. That looks like a wonderful venue for an event like yours. Even though it was a long drive, you had a good place to relax, and no doubt a good bit of meet-and-greet along with it. I’m glad you’re home safely. Did the girls miss you?

  23. It would be fun to meet friends from blogland. I saw a picture of a garage someone built, and there are tailgates mounted to the walls. You have to unlatch them, just like on a truck, before they become seats.
