This is the second post as a result of a day spent with my daughters. We visited two winery locations. This is the second winery visited.
El Gaucho Winery in Texas is a social location in Texas for wines made from grapes grown in Mendoza Argentina. The Texas location is meant to feature the Argentian wines and to provide a comfortable venue for gatherings. You can find out more about the winery here.
The main sign lets you know this is a piece of Argentina.

The menu. We tasted the Malbec Classico. It was delicious.

An observation and event deck. This winery had a party written all over it. I’m going to keep my eye open for events.

Good morning, John,
I like a Malbec very much, especially if it comes from Argentina and not from grapes grown here in Texas. My experience – I hope I can trust my palate and tongue there – is, that Malbecs from Argentina are a tad more dry than those from here. I seem to feel the same with other grapes, too.

My thoughts about the dryness: Texas wines are (just) a tad sweeter than their equivalents from Europe [or, in the case of Malbec, from Argentina], and then Californian wines are (just) a tad sweeter again than their equivalents from Texas. As I usually prefer a dry wine, I try to get the European variety. Here in Texas, btw, I like the Becker Viineyard “Claret” a lot, and the Sister Creek Vineyards Cabernet blends.
