Thursday – A Little personal – Lucy and Twiggy show signs of Cabin Fever

“So dad, we want to play outside.”

“It is too hot right now, Little One. It’s 103 degrees. Go play with Lucy.”

“Gee, Boss. I thought outside was a good idea.”

“See Dad. Lucy agrees with me.”

“Go look out and tell me what you see.”

“I don’t see anything. How about you, Lucy?”

“Nope, nothing from down here.”

“I’m still looking. Aw Lucy. You abandoned your post.”

“Yeah, sorry Little One but these old bones gotta rest.”

“I can tell you there is nothing out there because it is too darned hot.”

“Okay. I get it. I think I’ll play with the hedgehog.”

“You want to play keep away? Twiggy?

“What do I have to do?”

“You run away, and I keep Hedgehog. away from you.”

“What are you doing, Twiggy?”

“The lioness on the plain advancing on the slow unsuspecting Water Buffalo.”

“Then the water Buffalo gores the lion with her horns.”

“Hey no fair. I’m the queen of the jungle. I don’t do gored.”

“But the lion is too smart for the Buffalo and gets the drop.”

“You’re supposed to be gored.”

“Where is that written? You missed.”

“Boss. Twiggy doesn’t play fair. She is supposed to be gored.”

“I know, Lucy. Maybe next time you can be the lion.”

  1. Such adventures! My crew has cabin fever, too, but in their case it’s from rain. Thank goodness for toys!

    1. Yes, Toys do help. Thanks, Lori. I hope it stops soon.

  2. Well, in some cases, it’s “Better gored than ignored.” That might be the case when cabin fever sets in; here’s hoping your heat breaks sooner rather than later, although the forecast through the weekend doesn’t look too promising. We actually have rain in the forecast, which wouldn’t solve the girls’ cabin fever issues, but it sure would be nice for you otherwise.

    1. We do mornings for a walk (79 degrees) and they do go out during the day. They just don’t stay long. Evenings are 98 degrees or so. They do a final out in the yard and that’s it.

  5. What a wonderful start to my Thursday morning! This has to be one of my favorites, John…the water buffalo and the lioness, LOL. And that closing shot of Lucy is perfect. I love it!

    1. Thank you, Mae. Lucy was actually complaining to me about Twiggy so I took the shot. Lucy very seldom barks but I think she had had it.

  8. I love the way Twiggy looks outside. Those poor girls in that heat, they must get a little crazy. We’ve been getting up and walking Maddie early, but at 103, I’m guessing your area isn’t cooling down much at night, John. I hope the weather breaks soon, before you all succumb to cabin fever.

  9. Lucy ain’t wrong. The rules of the jungle are pretty simple. Rule number one is that the lion beats water buffalo. Rule number two, lion calls up friends for a grill.

I love how Twiggy messes with the natural order of things. She’s a free spirit.

  11. OMG. I know Twiggy is the outspoken, energetic ham of the two, but Lucy is hilarious. Look at that face! And I love how she helped Twiggy look out the window.

Too funny, John. As usual, thanks for the Thursday smile.

  12. Just like a kid to change up the rules. Lucy’s face at the end is priceless.

So are both of their faces when denied the outside. – ugh that type of weather would do me in, too.

  25. Aw, poor kids! I imagine it’s more difficult with dogs…well, maybe puppies…when you have to keep them inside. Our cats might beg a little bit but then they find a spot and then just sleep which is all they do when they’re on the porch anyway 😉 Our temps were a bit milder this past week and we (the bipeds) got to play outside for a while. Still, not long enough. A short walk would be enough to have me sweating buckets!
