Thursday – A Little Personal – Temps below 100 Degrees

Twiggy and Lucy

“So Lucy, what’s the deal?”

“The temperature is below 100 degrees for the first time this month.”

“Is it the end of the world?”

“No, Little One. A cool front moved in, and it is cooler now.”

“How cool is it, Lucy?”

“Hmmm let’s see. That thermometer says ninety-seven degrees.”

“Ninety-seven degrees? Are you kidding me?”

“Uh, no. That is what it says.”

“With you going on about the cool, I thought it would be well below one hundred.”

“Hey. Every little bit counts.”

“Okay, I’m going to try it out.”

“I think the back patio would be the place to relax.”

“Come over to my spot on the grass and see if you like it.”

“Okay. Let me sniff out a good place.”

“Well, how is it?”

“Comfy. But too many ants for my taste.”

“So come to the back patio.”

“Okay. I’m on my way.”

“What do you think?”

“I don’t see any ants.”

“Relax, Lucy. I have the cabana server running us a couple of drinks.”

“When he gets here would you ask him to put up the umbrella?”

  1. Now, they look like too happy little dogs. And the garden is looking great, John. Have a lovely rest of your week 🙂

  2. Great to hear and see that they can go outside again. A month of 100 degree heat sounds brutal on the nerves.

      3. Those on the beach – yes. For so most in south FL, there is only one way out. North. Would you want to get stuck on a highway with millions of other cars – or in your home? I’m staying here, this house has been through storms for 40 years.

  8. Yeah, 97 is a lot different from 100. We had a “cool front” here but with a slight amount of rain, the humidity level increased. I’m looking forward to temps in the 80s.

  9. Little blessings are better than no blessings at all! I just peeked, and saw that we’re predicted to have a high of 88 today. I don’t believe that; I’m sure we’ll go into the 90s. But I’d happily gain a degree or two if it could lower your temperatures even a bit more. I know the girls will enjoy their outdoor time in the “cooler” weather.

    1. I hope Dorian veers North so you guys won’t be in the way. They loved the “cooler” weather. Thanks, Linda.

  10. So cute! Your backyard looks beautiful, John! We have less humidity for the next couple of days which makes the heat more tolerable.

  12. Ouch, sitting on concrete? How about a block of ice? :):)

    1. Wouldn’t last two seconds. (Ice that is) Lucy loves concrete for some reason. Given some of the marks on her elbows, we think she may have been raised on concrete. (which is not a good idea)

  19. John, you create such wonderful photo stories with the girls. This one is wonderful. It really has seemed like a hot August. It sounds like Austin has been even hotter than here.
I’m late for story day, but have not forgotten. I was out challenging my agoraphobia yesterday (by going with a friend to her doctor’s appointment about 1 1/2 hours away), so My comfort zone is one mile… so I’m still tired from the stress of it. But it’s a good day. Hugs on the wing.

  22. While in Alaska and really enjoying the temperatures [around 60 at daytime] we kept track of the extreme temps here in Texas and were happy to be up there, even if – on the morning of our bus tour through Denali NP – I was shivering with the cold for a while.

  29. Lovely to see the two BFFs getting outside together. I trust the humidity is not equal to the temp. 97 is still really high. Do you mist water out there to cool it down for humans?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. We did have high humidity with feels like in the 110 area a few days ago. We used to have misters at the coast but they drenched us and it wasn’t worth it. Thanks, Noelle.

  31. The girls seem to be enjoying the “cooler” temps, John. 97° doesn’t sound cool, but I guess when you’ve been seeing three-digit numbers for a month, it’s a welcome sign. Tell the girls it was 58° when I was out sitting with Maddie this morning. We were in the shade and she started shivering after a half an hour. She wanted to stay out there, but I brought her inside.

Did Twiggy get up on that lawn chair by herself? I imagine it would feel slightly cooler than the cement.
