Last weekend was the Fall Fest at Emmaus Catholic Parish. The fest is a major fundraiser for the Parish. I stopped by and was amazed at everything that was going on. I thought you would enjoy seeing it as well. This post has way too many photos, but this is a fraction of those I took. I hope you enjoy it.
A nod to the fact that fall is approaching
Vendor booths. (Should have set up my book stand.)
Games required tickets to play.
The Wine wheel was popular, as was the cake wheel.
A Pot of gold is like a bean bag toss.
Putting contest.
The street of games and vendors and a nun.
The Bookmobile. (YAY)
Some games weren’t too popular like the broom race.
and the Flamingo toss.
The burger truck.
I thought it was pretty funny to have no parking signs except for Sunday. I’m wondering about who would want to park there the rest of the week.
A fun Tejano band.
Yeah, I’ll have a double-double chocolate shake with whipped cream on top and hurry please. (The producer is somewhere else)
Shave ice.
Hot dog truck.
Train ride.
Slide.
Bouncy Castle.
And a petting zoo. There were all kinds of animals, but I thought this calf was very cute.

This looks like a lovely event, John. I don’t think children are interested in old fashioned games anymore, they are to ordinary for our techie kids. Food, of course, is always popular.

I love a good festival. I have a soft spot for a bookmobile — they evoke a lot of childhood memories for me. Looks like a lot of good fun.

What beautiful weather for a Fall festival — thanks for letting me see the event through your camera, John. You’re right — the calf is pretty cute, and I imagine a double-double chocolate shake would taste pretty good as you wander the grounds. I laughed out loud at the nun in full dress though — haven’t seen one of those in many years!

When I was down on Galveston Island last weekend, there was a group of nuns enjoying the beach — all in full habit, including the one who was wading in the surf.

That’s quite a festival! It seems to have a different, slightly more urban vibe than the ones I’ve been to in the country, but that makes sense. Clearly, people are having just as much fun, and that’s the point (well, except for the increased funding for the parish).

It did have an urban feel. The petting zoo was trucked in. Also, there were enough 30 something mothers toting LV purses to choke a horse (so to speak)

I like the food trucks. Quite an assortment. Might not be a bad job/investment for when I retire. I’m sure it beats sittin’ at a computer all day long trying to come up with something pithy to say.
