Here is that beautiful day of the week that traditionally signals an end to the workweek. Only eight more hours and then the weekend is available for maximum enjoyment. I certainly hope you will enjoy yours.
Not too much new around here. We saw the temperatures drop into the 30s, and for next week, it looks like more of below-normal conditions. The daytime highs are expected to be no more than the high 60s and lows in the 50s. This would compare to the ’80s as a high and 70s as a low. So, yes, sweater weather but not subzero. Tonight is the only low in the 30’s. We are due rain next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
The WIP is coming along but slowly. I work on it everyday but for me, editing is a much slower task than writing. So far, our heroes have been to Dodge City Kansas in 1878, Tombstone Arizona in 1881 and have just arrived at the Alamo in 1838.
By the way, in case I haven’t mentioned it, these two, James and Samantha, are on a quest to find the best eternal home. They are sampling places and time dimensions to see what fits the best. Along the way, they are seeing plenty of action. If you are a history buff you know some things happened in each of those years. For example, right now they arrive at the Alamo a couple of days before Santa Anna’s attack on the Texas stronghold. Well, more of this later.

We were 81 yesterday and now it’s 39 degrees. Where is my autumn? The leaves have already fallen and they hadn’t turned, but I have the day off, so who cares! My mom is ready to shop, so we’ll bundle up and head out with no complaints. I’m with you about editing being slower, but I do enjoy it. Happy Friday!

I’ve got a tumbleweed from outside Dodge City. I wonder what souvenirs James and Samantha are going to pick up? That’s an interesting thought, right there. If nothing else, I’ll bet their experiences are going to be more dramatic than mine were!
I was startled by how brown Twiggy has become. It’s not so noticeable in most photos, but for a moment I thought you had a different dog visiting in your home!

If you count meeting Wyatt and Virgil Earp at the OK corral, having dinner at the Longbranch saloon, and taking orders from Davy Crockett, I think they may have a few dramatic experiences. Twiggy looks brown because of the diffused light. She is really her same color (Blond with toast markings.) Thank you, Linda.

Here’s your fun fact for the day: I once dated Warren Earp, a direct descendent of the youngest “famous” Earp brother. The elder Warren wasn’t at the shootout, but he did ride with the group that set out to avenge the death.

Wow. That is a fun fact. Warren did help Wyatt hunt down those responsible for Morgan’s death. He, Doc Holiday, Wyatt and two others were on a vendetta in 1882. Warren was eventually shot and killed in 1900 during an argument. Thanks, Linda.

It’s cold here this morning. We only had a handful of trick-or-treaters last night because of the wind and low temps. Need to get this chocolate out of the house!

Since it was sticky and steamy here yesterday, I won’t complain about waking up to an arctic chill. Still, I wish I had brought my fingerless mittens. It’s cold in my office 🙁 Yet it’s Friday and always warms my spirits 🙂 Happy Friday, John!

I imagine the cool snap is a welcome break and puts a lot of folks in the mood for holiday spending, right?! And with an even shorter time to buy and wrap all those Christmas presents, every minute counts (or so the retail outlets would have us believe). Your Johnku is pretty accurate. This summer we had a string of beautiful, sunny days but many of us were pining away for rain for our lawns. The WIP sounds wonderful. I’ll be in line for it. Have a great weekend!

You’re never happy, eh? Too hot, too cold… 😉 I tease, of course. You guys have had colder weather than we up here in the Great White North – not counting Alberta and Manitoba – but they always have weird weather so I don’t count them.

You have piqued my interest about your WIP! I am a history buff and will look forward to that one … sounds fun! As re the weather … yep, we are never satisfied for more than about 12 days out of the year. I was complaining yesterday of the cold, when only two weeks ago I was whining about the heat. And, a month from now I’ll be complaining about ice on the roadways. Never satisfied. 😉

Sounds like an interesting story is underway. You’re right about the weather. Every winter I promise not to complain about the heat in July and every July I promise not to complain about the cold. Sorry to show up late again. Seems like my reading and writing schedule are totally out of whack lately.

Was it difficult…to write about past? I mean the research part & history details?

It took a lot of time. I had several periods to research and so the writing was slowed while I did it. One trick I found was to wait until I was at the point in the story befoe doing the research. This kept me on track for collecting the information I needed rather than random information. For example I needed to know the kind of pistol and holster Wyatt Earp carried at the gunfight at the OK corral. Had I done the research ahead of the story I would have missed that point and would have had to go back anyway. So I write a little till I get stuck and then research to get unstuck. Thanks, VR
