It is Wednesday Story Day again, and last week we witnessed Wentworth shooting himself in the foot. After some interesting interrogation techniques, Larry and Andrew found out that Cortez has the answer to their questions around who was sent to kill them. Wentworth was unwilling to give any more information, `even if it cost him his life. Although Larry threatened not to call 9-1-1 we left the group last week with the sounds of emergency vehicles in the background. I see Wentworth is all loaded up in the ambulance, and our heroes are pondering their next move. We better go and listen in.
“What do you make of that confusing discussion with Wentworth?”
“You know, Andrew, I’m so tired of the convoluted situations that we run across here I’m tempted to pull the plug and hightail it back to Boston.”
“Without finding out who killed Rafferty?”
“You know we started this case with Sandusky’s death. Because I was stumped, I went to Micki Lee’s, and she conjured up Gloria.”
“I remember. That Micki is something.”
“Yes well. Gloria told me to chase the motive, and the murderer will be found.”
“Yeah, I remember.”
“So we find out Rafferty would not falsify documents for Cortez saying that heart zap machine didn’t work.”
“Yeah, Cortez didn’t want to pay for it.”
“Right. So the inventor, Sandusky, and Rafferty end up dead.”
“I see what you are saying. The motive here all points to Cortez.”
“And now Wentworth says Cortez knows who tried to kill us, but he refuses to say more.”
“Which makes me believe it was Cortez.”
“So obvious it hurts. We’ve been chasing the Janet Rafferty involvement for no reason. Who cares if she was involved? We can always get her and her boyfriend later. They live in Boston for shit’s sake.”
“Let’s go back to Boston.”
“I agree. We need to talk to Cortez first.”
“You crazy? That sounds like a short runway to oblivion.”
“I just won’t be able to rest until I get some information from him. He is downstairs in the restaurant. Can’t take but a minute.”
“Or a lifetime.”
“Oh, come on. You afraid?”
“Cautious, just cautious.”
“Besides, you could use a cup of coffee.”
“The last request of the condemned man.”
I’ve always been a little leery of downstairs restaurants. I’ll stay upstairs!

Many thanks for the reprise, John. I think I may be back up to date now. Coffee sounds like a smart idea – then curl up with a good book?

Yeah. Like any serial need to have a breather before the finish. Thanks, Charles.

Ha ha – I hope Andrew isn’t right about that coffee. I like the idea of figuring it all out by remote, from Boston. But, I guess Larry knows what he’s doing. Lead on, John. At least there will be coffee.
If Gaggle says it’s Friday, I’m switching.

I’m thinking Andrew has the right idea. Larry is hell bent for a brusing, I’m afraid. Thanks, Dan

Good luck, boys. You might have to run back to Boston after your next meeting.

I’m trying to get them to go before the meeting but I don’t think I’ll be successful. Thanks, Craig.

Coffee can solve a lot of problems but I’m not sure about this one. The tension mounts! BTW, I’m pretty sure Twiggy would like to paw your laptop, but dad notices all. 😀

She thught about walking on it. The shot before this one she was giving it a sniff. Thanks, Gwen. 😀

Well … better to meet with Cortez in a public place than some dark alley, I suppose. Sitting on the edge of my seat, biting my … oops, I don’t have any fingernails to bite.

I found them in a drawer, so I don’t think I need them.

So many decisions are made over coffee – not about the virtue of coffee, but while the dark liquid is being consumed – in a recent ubiquitous poll, while nothing was finalized, a lot of coffee was consumed – makes one wonder if the coffee industry is controlling our lives… – just saying!

Cortez, Micki, Gloria… I feel this beginning to go full circle. It will be fun to watch you tie up all the threads, John. 😀 To me, that’s the exciting part of writing a serial. Hugs on the wing!

I hear ominous music playing here. Somehow I don’t think Cortez is just going to confess over his coffee. We shall see.

I agree with you. He doesn’t seem the type to go quietly into the night. Thanks, Jan.

I loved this episode because you reminded your readers of Gloria, Sandusky, and how they’re at this point. I’d almost forgotten about the heart zapping. Great timing, since they’re ready to confront Cortez.

You know what? I appreciate you giving us a little synopsis of where we stand. I’m afraid I was getting lost in the story there for a minute!
So. Cortez or flee… I dunno. I’m thinking Boston must be lovely this time of year…
