Here I am on my bike. This is my only outside event so, I thought I would record some of the more unusual things seen while riding the neighborhood.
Yes, that house and Jeep are purple. You can’t really see them, but there are purple lights around the tree as well.
“Trash day? Sure, toss that double sink. I’d rather use a bucket now that we are going third world.”
“Hey, dear. Where’s my office chair?” “I isolated it for your protection.”
“Just your ordinary deer in your ordinary yard.”
This old Jeep has to be a point of irritation in this house. Maybe some dirt and flowers would help.
New driveway and sod.
Never see a Pittsburgh Steelers sticker around here, so I had to take this one. Go Steelers.
A terrific armadillo mailbox decoration.
The murdered Crape Myrtle is coming to life.
Here is a yard wholly surrounded by cut firewood. Talk about stockpiling and expensive fencing.

For the life of me, I have to wonder what a pig means to these folks.
Our final shot is a cement deer. This buck is very handsome and poses nicely for the photo.

Fiction Favorites 
Looks like some of your neighbors are doing a little spring cleaning. Funny, there’s a house several miles from us that’s purple. I’ve never seen a car outside, but all of their potted plants are in purple containers and the child’s bike is purple also. The people are in those houses. There are some walkers but not too many. I think people here are taking ‘shelter in place’ seriously. Getting out for a few minutes is a good thing.

It’s good to take a bike ride around the neighborhood every once in a while. I notice much more than when I’m in the car. I enjoyed your neighborhood sights. I’ll bet you could get a good stream-of-consciousness story from that pig atop the mailbox.

Maybe it’s spring fever without anything to watch, but ?I feel good about the Steelers this year. We were planning to head to Pittsburgh for a game. I hope we still have the chance and that it’s safe to take that chance.

What a collection of treats — especially that armadillo, and the napping flamingos.Your ride reminded me of a guy in New York (Brooklyn, maybe) who wrote several years ago about his ‘block-a-thon.’ Unable to run a marathon because of injury, he measured the distance around his block, and walked around it enough times to cover the distance. What surprised him was how different each walk was. Who knows? Maybe that purple house will turn green!

Don’t worry about next week, John — this week was a hoot! I needed a laugh this morning, too. Those napping flamingos, the matching purple Jeep and house, the stuff tossed out with the trash — and your delightful comments — made me grin. I’m guessing you had to stop each time you wanted to take a photo, right (that, or you’re way more gifted than I am!)

Oh, John, you are so funny. People in your area live in houses with bathrooms – definitely not third world even without a double sink. Great shots especially of the purple loving family.

Interestingly enough, the very strong sense of community among our black African people is a problem at the moment because they don’t live individually like we do. They are very communal and this isolation is almost impossible for them due to cultural, family and religious influences.

We put two plastic deer in our yard at Christmas one year in CO. They almost caused accidents as people stopped abruptly to see them. We still have them in the garage. Here in WY they’d probably be shot at.

The funny thing about fake deer being in our yard in CO is that we regularly had real deer families in our yard. It was so wonderful to see them up close.

I love your ‘hood! I likely would have snatched the office chair, for it is in much better shape than mine. Love the live deer who obviously had the good taste to avoid the purple house! Hope you enjoyed your ride!

Thanks for the fun bike tour, John. I have to love the audacity of someone who would have a purple *Jeep* — not just a car, but a Jeep. A purple house too. Respect. But now I want to surveil the house to learn whether they also have purple hair. If they don’t, then please get them some purple hair dye. They just aren’t complete. 😀 Hugs on the (purple) wing.

I don’t know what to do with other trash than what goes in the trash can. Maybe take it to the landfill ourselves? So far, we have only had to get rid of an old office chair. We left that curbside with a sign “for free”. and in less than an hour it was gone.

We have up till now extensive pick up. You name it and they wouldpick it up. With the Covid-19 possibility of causing manpower shortages the city advised that only what goes in the can will be collected. No leaves, yard waste or anything outside the cans.

Besides trash can pick-up once a week, there’s only leaf collection at certain times of the year and also, but more rarely, collection of cut-down branches.

Yes. Pretty much the same everywhere. I was quite surprised whan we moved here at the items that could be put on the curb.

I love purple, but not sure if I’d want my house that color. Our crepe myrtles still look murdered. Just yesterday, I was thinking about getting our bikes out again. You’ve inspired me, John.
