Since the governor of Texas relaxed the stay at home orders, I decided to go out into the world and see if folks were leaving their homes to do authorized activities. I hope you enjoy the stroll with me.
The first stop Tennis courts. Yup folks on them
Foursome playing there.
Sign at the sand volleyball court. There is no one there. (Who wants to play a volleyball game with just two on a side. In the Olympics maybe.)
No one at the pool.
Five at the skatepark.
Practice green getting play.
Golf players
Snack bar players
This is the drive up food service at the country club.
Practice tee’s getting a workout.
The Greenbelt parking lot is jammed.
The city park has quite a few visitors.
The parking lot at the city park is full.
So I would say it looks like people are out and about. Thanks for coming along.
The watchword must be ‘proceed with caution’, John. I’m not convinced this thing will give up without a fight. Have a good week and stay safe.

Thank you for the update and photos. Our area has opened up, but I still wear a mask when I’m near groups of people. I love, love seeing people out and about, laughing and enjoying life. How miraculous it seems! It is my hope for NYC.

Us old folks (speaking for myself of course) should wear masks and be very careful. I have to admit is was nice seeing people out and about. I hope we won’t regret it. Happy Mother’s Day, Gwen.

Your pools are open already? Brrrrr! It’s nice to see people getting outside. Since the shutdown, our golf course has been busier than ever. Happy Mother’s Day to the Producer! ❤

Beautiful facilities. Interesting how each state has approached this situation differently. Although much is politically driven, all of us hope it works out for the best.

Your people are out and about, but most at a pretty safe distance from each other. Our community opened the pool back up and I saw way too many there yesterday and more walking up to it. (There was supposed to be a limit of 12 – I guess nobody’s counting.)

That is going to be a problem, GP. Thanks for sharing.

Out and about but keeping a distance. Maybe this will work, John. I hope so. I don’t want to see us forced to move backwards.
We’re still locked down for 10 more days. Then a gradual return to some place we’ve never been.
Take care & stay well.

We have had the stay at home for non-essentials extended yet the parks are open. Makes you wonder. Stay well too.

We’re still in the ‘stay at home unless you need to go out’ stage. I think. Honestly, I never figured out if the park was closed since there’s no way to block it off. One of our main roads passes through it. Hope things are getting safer for you guys down there.

Actually asked a scientist I know about it. Seems it’s something that sets off an immuno-reaction such as difficulty breathing and rashes. Kids are more susceptible here, especially if they have allergies.

It seems to me that if folks are well enough to play golf and tennis, they’re well. Of course, I don’t know. I didn’t see any masks on those people, but they do seem to be keeping their distance. Crazy times, that’s for sure. Stay safe when you venture out, John!

Yes, I have a mask with me always. Thank you, Debbie.

It still looks fairly “good” to me = not too many people around. Here in Fritztown it was horribel: hordes of tourists swarming about, absolutely no social distancing, and barely anybody wearing face masks. I don’t know what is going on in peoples’ minds. I’m worried about the next two weeks’ infection rate, especially as we have been doing so well [so far only three “active” infections].
I will definitely avoid going downtown, and do my walking outside city limits, or just around the (usually quiet) neighbourhood. And bicycling takes me out into the countryside anyway.
Have a wonderful Sunday, and stay healthy,
Pit

The problem living in a tourist area. I’m hearing Port A is nuts with non-compliance.

Well, I don’t think it’s only living in a tourist area. It’s the general irresponsibility and stupidity of too many people.

Stay safe, John. Unfortunately, there are far too many in positions of power who care far more about reopening the economy than about the lives that will be lost.

It is nice that you could get out a bit, John. It all looks very orderly and compliant. We are still in stage 4 lockdown and can only visit public parks between 6am and 9am. I haven’t been as that is an inconvenient time for me and I am worried about being mugged as our crime is skyrocketing.

I am so torn on all this. I hope people stay cautious. But no one can stay cooped up forever. I fear it pushes people into going nutty and taking more risks.

Nice to see a little bit of “normal” John. We’re still on lock-down until the end of this month. I just don’t want to see a second wave. By the way, I managed a shot of the bougainvillea on my last post. I can’t remember if you saw it already. I decided that anyone should be flattered if I’m snapping a pic of their blooms. 🙂 Have a good Monday.

I did see them and they were outstanding but for one reason or another I didn’t “like” or comment. It may be I got interrupted. All the flowers were beautiful. Yes, no one should care if you take the photos.

You have an enlightened governor. I think at some point people need to be allowed their First Amendment right to weigh the risk, take the proper precautions, and get on with their lives. There is so much we don’t know about this horrible virus but I do think our economy is circling the drain.
Fresh air and sunshine will help a lot!

It seems that social distancing is being taken seriously. I think if people would follow the CDC guidelines instead of arguing that wearing a mask and whatever other reasons they have for not following the CDC, we could all be out and about safely.
