This is another view of some of the decorations that have been placed on top of mailbox holders. It hardly seems possible that I did a post over a year ago about the mailbox decorations here in Lakeway. This tour has some different ones from the last. If you missed the last one, HERE is a link. I hope you enjoy our stroll today.
I would call this one Jerimiah.
This is a metal plant. I like the turquoise color.
A pot with some petunias.
A peacock, of course.
Kind of a sad raccoon.
A happy fawn.
This looks to be the bluebird of bitterness.
Here is a symbol of good luck. I hope you have a great week.
Good pictures, John. Once in the U.S. where we were living one of the teenagers from the neighborhood took one of those carved good luck pieces from outside someone’s home and threw it in our yard. When we found out who it belonged to we returned it. Kids. 🙂 — Suzanne

I lived in an area where kids used to hit the mail boxes with base ball bats. Very destructive. Thanks, Suzanne.

These are wonderful! Does the bluebird of bitterness signify a curmudgeon’s residence?

II’m not sure but I think it might be a hint. Thanks, Liz.

I love these, John. They sure make our mailboxes look so boring. I’ll be waiting to see yours with Twiggy on top! Happy Sunday! 🙂

Cool collection. We don’t have that stuff here. It’s either mail slots in doors or small boxes on the walls.

This is considered a rural route. The mail people deliver from vehicles. So the boxes are at the curb.

Has it really been a year ago?! I didn’t even think you were living there a year ago – time does fly!
My favorite of course has to be Jeremiah! (was a bull frog, was an old friend of mine…..)

I thought the metal plant would be my favorite, and then I saw the sad raccoon. That’s wonderful. I like those people already!

Yes they are probably someone we would like. Thanks, Linda.

I love the little ways people personalize these. I imagine hey are used in directions. Much easier to remember ‘happy fawn’ than ’62’ of red house.

That is an excellent point, Dan. “Keep driving till you come to the happy fawn. If you miss it take a U-turn at the pineapple.” 😊

What, no owls??? Well, I suppose the bluebird and the peacock will have to do. Thanks for another interesting look at your neighborhood, John. Have a lovely Sunday!

Yes they will have to do. I couldn’t find an owl. Thanks, Debbie.

Great decorations, John. Thanks for sharing. 🙂 I don’t recall to have seen any like these in our neighborhood. As we don’t have a brick-and-mortar mailbox, we can’t have those. We just put different covers on.
Have a great Sunday,
Pit

I like those John. Combo pizza oven, mailbox, art pedestal, address post, car ramming target. Hence the message ‘hit the bricks’.

Great photos, John. I love the one with the frog. We used to have a picturesque mailbox, but our nearly blind 95-year-old neighbor backed into it. Now we have a typical mailbox, located far from our neighbor’s driving path. 🙂

Such detailing is going out of style. Sadly. As it is considered to have little ‘practical value.’ As if adding character and a personal style statement were not of value.
