Wednesday Story Day – AKA Hump Day

Hump Day

“Anyone want to play?”
“Is it Friday?”
“Still Wednesday.”
“Check back Friday.”

It is Wednesday Story Day again, and last week we got a warning from Andrew that he thinks Larry and he ought to be careful. Although it sounded like a DUH statement, I think Andrew has a good gut, and we all should pay attention to it. The State Trooper Major is off contacting his informants to see if he can turn up a lead on who might be offering a contract on Larry and Andrew. In the meantime, the Lieutenant is coming back with some information on one of the dead assassins.  We better get back there to see what has developed.

“Hey, guys.”

“Lieutenant.  Do you have any information?”

“Yeah. We got a facial hit on the guy in Starbucks.”

“I’m dying to know.”

“Looks like he is a member of the Serbian underground. He is one of a few guns for hire from the old Slobodan Milošević days.”

“That guy was taken out of office in 2000.”

“Yeah, our man was a young punk in the secret service back then. He was in his forties when you killed him. I might add looking at this guy’s rap sheet you were lucky that he didn’t get you before you got him.”

“What is he doing here in the US?”

“I would say he took a contract to eliminate you. We are checking with Homeland to see when he came into the US, but that’s going to take time.”

“I’m not sure it is going to be meaningful information anyway.”

“Yeah, you may be right. What is important is who hired him.”

“Right back to square one.”

“Not necessarily.”

“What do you mean?”

“Unless whoever hired this guy posted his need on the dark web, there has to be a connection. Maybe a Serbian connection.”

“You know anyone like that?”

“I sure do. He is a major player in the dirty deeds department.”

“Think he might be behind thee attempts?”

“It doesn’t sound like his MO, but I’m sure he knows something. Let’s go talk to him. I know exactly where he’ll be right now.”

“What about the Major?”

“Sure, he can come.”

“I mean, shouldn’t we wait to see what he finds out.”

“I was meaning to do that. Here he comes now. What did you find out?”

“Well, it looks like there was a contract for a hit, although my source didn’t want to talk about it.”

“So he knows nothing?”

“No, I would say he knows enough that he doesn’t want to be involved.”

“Did he mention the Serbs?”

“No. What about them?”

“Our hitman was an ex secret service guy for Slobodan Milošević.”

“Ye Gods. You guys are in a world of trouble if the Serbs are involved.”

“Pretty comforting hey, Andrew.”

“Told you I had a bad feeling.”

  5. I’d be more comfortable if there was one or two guys our buddies knew they could trust. So far, I think the barista is the only person in that category. Going – with these guys – to meet another bad guy – none of those things sound like a good idea.

I hope this guy is in a very public place.

Take card of Twiggy. There just aren’t enough Friday’s for that girl.

  13. I do so envy the pups!!! Wish I could join them. As for Andrew and Larry … I still think they ought to disguise themselves as janitors or labourers and try hitchhiking their way home, then find new careers! Thanks for brightening my Wednesday, John!

      2. For sure. I couldn’t think of a worse person to connect to the shooters except for maybe Adolf Hitler and his secret service is long gone. Thanks, Marc.

      3. Slobodan works. I’m a big believer in never forgetting, and there’s a lot out there that we should never forget.

Didn’t mean to skip over the fact that your story is kick ass.

  16. It may be time for Andrew and Larry to take a page from Twiggy’s book and stick their heads under the couch, so that the Serbs can’t find them.
