It is Friday again, and I know Twiggy is happy. She always looks forward to Friday for some strange reason. She’ll be glad it’s here. As for me, it seems to be like any other day for sure. In fact, I was thinking (Uh oh) while on a bike ride. A ton of random thought came into mind. I hope you’ll bear with me as I share them with you.
- Why do men over fifty think they look good in sleeveless t-shirts? Those hairy shoulders beg for a forest fire.
- How come it is so hard to read the contents of cardboard boxes at the curb. Come on, manufacturers just spell it out. How else will I know what my neighbors are buying?
- Why do some people insist on riding their bikes toward traffic? I guess they want to see in advance what hits ’em. (also they do not know the physics relating to the velocity of two objects closing in on each other)
- What is up with people leaving dog poop bags on the street? I know I’m not going to pick them up.
- How come so many people have come to the decision that there is no virus? I see way too many clumps and no masked folks to suit my comfort.
- Where is Joe Biden? Is he still running for President?
- Do we have enough supplies for a second wave of Covid-19? Well, let’s hope so, except most of the stuff is still not being stocked. (Like thermometers)
- Protests for a cause are a good thing. The destruction of property is not. It is good to see protesters stop lawbreakers.
- I wonder where the new normal will settle. Police state? Lawless society? Endangered human species? Who knows?
- The Presidental election is five months away. What will be the significant
issue that decides who gets the most votes? The economy? Covid-19 response? Law and order? International relations? Immigration? Maybe there will be more issues. Who knows?
Today’s John Ku talks about random thoughts. I hope you have a great weekend.

Thoughts don’t ask to come,
They show up without warning . . .
Then it’s your worry.
Good morning, John. Your questions brought both smiles and nods because they are familiar to me. The “dog poop bags on the street” question has plagued me for years. 😀 As for the “new normal” you mention, the prospects are frightening, particularly if we believe our behavior creates our future. And so I pray….

Yes, prayer is the right thing to do, Gwen. Most everything else seems futile. Thanks for the comment. 😊

All good questions, John. As for the last one, we share the same interest – come the next election, will you get a president (and we a prime minister) worthy of the title?
LikeLiked by 2 people
If it is Joe Biden or Donald Trump then, no. Sadly the choice is not good.

I try not to comment on US politics, but am somewhat confused that the party that gave you JFK and Barack Obama seem ready to select a man who, if elected, will pass 80 during his first term.

OMG, John! Great questions. I love the cardboard boxes one, te hee he. Funny that I had the same dog-poop-bag question just the other day. I mean, the nasty bit is bagging it in the first place, right? So why go through that bit of the business and then leave the bag??!!
Great Haiku. Have a wonderful weekend, John and all 🙂

Thank you, Harmony. One explaination was to leave the bag and pick it up on the way back. Unfortunately I see way to many older bags so I think it is forgotten. Have a great weekend, Harmony. 😊

I do know why people ride bikes towards traffic. It’s actually a recommendation because it means cars can see you. If you’re going on the same direction then you won’t always know what’s behind you and you can avoid being in a driver’s bind spot. Most don’t follow this because it feels like it goes against instinct.
As far Biden, he’s around doing things, but the media is paying more attention to the other events.

Thanks for the answers, Charles. Here, it is recommended that bike traffic follow vehicle traffic. Bike lanes are set up that way. My thought came to mind as I was coming over the top of a hill and met another bike. Didn’t crash but was close.

We have those too, but I guess the rules are different. Honestly, people just bike on whatever side of the road they expect to either make a turn on or stop.

Fun ride and questions, John. I can answer the dog poop bag question, at least as it pertains to myself. When I walk the dogs, if they do their business on the way out, I bag it and place the bag on the side of the road and pick it up on the way back. That way I don’t have to do the whole walk carrying a smelly bag of 💩. 😉

I guess a lot of folks here forget they did that since some of the bags are there for days. Thanks for the explaination, Lori. I think I can take this one off the list. 😁

Oh gosh! No, I don’t leave mine for days! Usually it’s about 20 minutes. 😊

There’s a Christmas movie (Mixed Nuts) in which Adam Sandler’s character sings a song about all the things that make him wonder. You, sir, could give him a run for his money.
Happy Friday!

The thing about those thoughts is, they don’t even knock at the door when the arrive. They just barge right in, check out the fridge, and change the channel on the tv while they’re settling in. Then, we’re the ones who have to find a way to dislodge them!

I have a similar kind of “stream of consciousness” thoughts, John. Yours are varied and fun and yet also deep and to-the-point. Why are people so sure they “THEY” will not get the virus so who cares if they carry it to someone else? (urrrr). And the ‘leaving the poop bag for someone else to pick up” is one of my pet peeves (no pun intended) and seems to happen in every state of our Union. I. Don’t. Get. It. (I’ve seen the same bag there for days, so perhaps some ‘baggers’ think they’ll pick it up on the return trip, but they don’t). On the plus side… hmmm, what’s the plus side of poop bags and (needed) protests and a hidden Joe Biden and hairy shoulders? Oh, I know! The election is just five months away. MAY WE ALL VOTE AND HELP OUR WORLD RE-ADJUST!!!

I see very little hope in the candidate roster for President. (That includes the incumbent)We will have to wait and see.

I’m concerned about that second wave, too, John. We’ve had no cure, no preventative, yet folks are out and about — most without masks and distancing — as if this is just any old summer. And seeing them all bunched up at beaches, protests, and so forth gives me the shudders. I hate the thought of being locked down all over again, but I don’t see much way we can avoid that. This time, I’m hoping to stock up on the supplies we need beforehand so I won’t have to get out there for a longer while!

It is always a good idea to have supplies. Thanks Debbie. Have a safe weekend.

When one of the candidates has no interest in reading the constitution let alone following it and wants to be despot for life the choice becomes simple. There are uniformed forces patrolling Washington that have absolutely no insignia on their uniforms. There is nothing he won’t say or do.
Or undo. What ever faults the other guy might have they pale in comparison.

I let out a guffaw on the first one! I will say…not all men end up with the hairy shoulders (or they wax ’em)…
The only time I leave a bag of poop – usually beside a bush, discreetly is because Zeke decided to go around the corner from my home and the next garbage bin is way far. Yes, I could go back and dump it but I will be passing back in front of it after my walk – and I haven’t forgotten it yet – picking it up and disposing of it in my bin.
As to all the other questions, they are valid ones indeed!
And seriously, my American friends and all o’ ya’all others. VOTE!!!
Excellent JohnKu!

A great list of questions, John, worthy of a ponder. The one about bicycles always amazes me. I don’t think they understand the combined velocity and how quickly the gap is closing.

Love your list, Boss. Yeah, tank tops went out for me back when I still had hair in all the right places. As for the criminals who get in the way of a justified protest? I say shame on all those conservative voices who lump them together, because one ain’t the other, at all.
And Biden . . I think someone has to remind him he’s still running. Sheesh.
Glad you raised a ruckus, it IS Friday after all.

The next election will be the result of something stupid. We all know that, but the really stupid thing will come flying at us two days before the election – too quick to think, that was really stupid before we pull the lever.

Happy Saturday, John! I ask myself that “dog poop in a bag by the side of the road” question at least once every time I go for a walk in my neighborhood … and I don’t live in a big neighborhood so, no clue. Hope the rest of your weekend is great!

I detest people putting their poop bag in my Waste Mgmnt containers or lawn debris bags just because it’s convenient. Take it home. Now, you got me started, John. Our dog is trained to poop when I take her out after her morning and afternoon meals. Yes, she’ll poop occasionally on walks but not halfway up someone’s lawn.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes, ours have their own yard. Occasionally they will have to go while walking. We are always prepared. I had a guy at my last house drop a poop bag into my trash every pickup day. I finally went out and told him to knock it off. You would have thought I called his mother a bad name.

It strikes me as so odd that for people who are well educated, have nice homes, themselves, behave like miscreants (first time I ever used that word, I like it 😂) …. now I lost my train of thought. Heck, it’s Monday, I better quit bitchin’ and put a smile on my face. Have a great day!

And one more thing, older men in t shirts. Don’t they look in the mirror before leaving the house? We took dance lessons a number of years back and, much to my wife’s chagrine, we had to switch partners. She had to dance with an older man who wore the Marlon Brando t shirt, no sleeves and low cut neckline. It was summer and hot. His skin felt damp. And this guy was looking for a girlfriend? Give me a break.

Sounds awful. I’ll bet the guy never finds a girlfriend.
