It is Friday once again. Hopefully, everyone is safe and well. It is becoming more difficult to stay safe and well for sure.
Today the governor approved a workaround for requiring the wearing of masks here in Texas. A county judge in San Antonio found a loophole whereby the state and local municipalities cand enforce the wearing of masks in retail establishments. It is quite simple. Retailers are now required not to let anyone in the store without a mask. As we all know, social distancing and masks are very effective in stopping the spread of Covid-19. With people jamming into bars and onto beaches the new case and hospitalizations of Covid-19 victims has skyrocketed. So far voluntary compliance has not been effective. Let’s hope the new retail requirement can make a difference. For the life of me, I don’t understand why folks take this disease so casually especially when the young are getting sick.
In other news. There has been no response from the agent community on my queries. I guess I’ll have to send follow up notes to extract a decision.

I’m staying indoors, John. Hubby has to go to work, though, and I’m just waiting for him to bring the virus through the door. It was better when we were both in lockdown. Keep safe, everyone, and have a great weekend 🙂

My suggestion. Gotta treat the house as a sterile zone. Hubby in shower when he comes home, clothes in safe place before washing. He wears mask and does the hand sanitize when he leaves work. (Carry little bottle) Stay safe.

The stats say that if someone with Covid-19 and someone without Covid-19 come into contact and both are wearing a mask, there is less than a 1% chance of infection. If both are not that goes to 99% chance. Thanks, Lori

Our area is open and tourists are pouring in. The only folks who seem to be wearing masks are the elderly, retail/restaurant employees, and medical professionals. It certainly raises a lot of concerns.

Anyone without a mask is a threat to themselves and others. I had a delivery guy attempt to approach me with out a mask. I told him to get away. He looked at me like I was from outer space.

Too many took our 2nd phase of opening as a signal that life goes back to normal. The beaches and protests in one week gave us such a spike we just may now have a new lockdown.

I am half inclined to send Tiny out to do mask enforcement. Perhaps we could do a bit on ten things not to say to Tiny when caught without one’s mask out in public. And while he is out there he can stop in on those publishers and explain polite timely responses… I guess we will find out if Tiny is fond of Promethean tasks.

I’m sorry you’re having agent problems, John. Everything seems to cause problems these days. I had trouble getting bank checks and then was only sent one book of checks. I tried to get an agent for help with renewing my U.S. passport but, there’s been flooding in Mumbai, so haven’t heard back. Many things seem harder these days. Good points, John, and I agree with you completely. While I have finally (after 4 months of total isolation at home) been cleared by my doctor to go out, I have restrictions (hers and my own) that include wearing a mask and only going to places that are diligent about social distancing. I won’t be gadding about very often yet, for sure, as cases are rising here in Florida at a fairly dramatic rate. The mayor of Orlando (where my husband works) is considering going back on lockdown, and as of tomorrow, wearing a mask at ALL times is required by law there. We live slightly north of Orlando, and it isn’t a requirement here, but I wish it were. I’m in a very high risk group, I do NOT want to catch this steenkin’ disease!

I for one won’t feel safe until we get a preventative (and a cure) for this thing. Every time I have to leave the house, upon my return, I sanitize my car and myself (head to toe), wash all the clothing and towels, etc. I can’t afford to bring it home. I hate masks as much (if not more!) than the next person, but if that’s what it takes to protect us and others from this virus, then masks I shall don!

I totally agree, John. The retail merchants must require masks because otherwise, people won’t comply. I don’t understand it either. A friend and I were talking a couple of days ago about music venues and he thinks the Liquor Control Board should enforce the wearing of masks in bars. I thought that was a good point. Happy Friday. I’ll never understand how the idea of creating a government that respects human rights and treats its citizens equally in matters of law became a license to do as you please even if it kills other people in the community. It seems so…well. Greetings from a guy whose been in his man cave too long. 🙂

Wearing a mask is being enforced here, John. We have the same rule for retail. I think young people generally think they are invincible and this was sold to the public as an old people’s disease.

I think you are right. There was an initial bunch of announcement on protect yourself to protect the elderly. So much for thinking of others. Now is time to protect yourself to protect yourself. (taht message may resonate) Thanks, Robbie.

I don’t understand the objection either John, I got bullied in a mini-supermarket for wearing a mask in April, the man followed me all around the store calling me stupid, fortunately i didn’t need much and paid and left quickly hoping he didn’t follow me outside.
My Mum sent me a ffp3 mask in early March and told me to wear it on the underground and when close to other people with instructions on how to put it on and take it off and sterilise it, that was a really unpopular move too, lots of people staring and laughing, I was in South Korea last year and wearing a mask there was commonplace in many high pollution areas and most of my friends from Asia had started wearing masks too and were trying to explain to everyone it was to protect other people more than them so I just followed my Mums advice she’s into world affairs and news.
Coming out of this lockdown is going to be harder than going into it for a lot of people.

I don’t think anyone will laugh at you now. I think you did the right thing. I have been wearing a mask on airplanes for the last five years. My immune system will not support any kind of virus. People would actually ask for a different seat if their’s was next to me. (This suited me fine) I also carried a personal bottle of sanitizer which I used frequently. I know people thought I was weird, but I am still here and have avoided contracting something that would prove to be critical. Right now we are seeing major increases in cases because people are not social distancing or wearing masks. Thanks for the comment and stay safe.

I have a humidiflyer have you heard of them, they are a mask and also keep you hydrated when flying, otherwise it is so drying when you fly long distance then have to sing shortly afterwards. I know what you mean about odd looks. I recommended it to my Nana because she kept getting serious respiratory illness every time she flew and it didn’t happen last time when she used it.
