When we all have been quarantined as long as we have the subject material for a Views feature starts to get a little thin. This week I noticed several swings and playthings hanging in people’s yards. These things spoke to me of more staying at home as opposed to going to parks. You are welcome to come along or stay right here. If you decide to pass. on the walk, help yourself to a margarita and keep the social distance.
Here is a whole jungle gym kind of set up. Hard to see, but there are rings and pull-up bars. Has a “Go outside and play” vibe.
Although not hanging here is a soccer net and real-live players.
A cute little baby swing.
A very common swing. In a sweet cool spot.
Nothing is hanging on the crape myrtles. I just thought they looked beautiful in the Saharan Dust filled day.
The look of a classic swing is in front of a cottage.
Another swing. Hard to see, but there is one on the porch too.
Yup. Swing.
I had to laugh at the Uncle Sam hanging from a pole. An early Fourth of July item.
Now we are talking—a hammock under the trees.
A swing, kiddie car, and lots of washed-out sidewalk chalk dust. Yup playtime place.
Well, that’s it. I hope you had a nice walk. You have earned your margarita. I’m paring those with chips and mango salsa. Can you say “Über home?”
Hi, John. You had me at hammock!
Stay safe.

I’m with you on the hammock. That’s definitely my kind of swing. Enjoy your Sunday, John!

I could do the hammock right now (Will have to wait as I’m off to work for (hopefully) a short shift as there are talks of thunderstorms later… Is it bad to hope I cut things short? 😉
Happy Sunday, John.

Didn’t realize you were working. Cutting things short is always a good thing as long as a knife is not involved. 😊

Yup. Every Thursday, Saturday, Sunday. 7:15-7:30 (8 by the time I close up shop)
No knives besides the ones used to cut sandwiches … 😉

Long shift. A short cut would be good. 😁

It would. So far the meteorologists suck at predicting thunderstorms – not a one had materialised!

Lovely neighborhood, John. When I walked outside this morning, there was a box turtle at the bottom step. I’m always surprised to see him. He’ll be “hanging” around for a bit. 🙂

We have a toad that does the sme thing (Hang around). Then he’ll disappear for a while as well. Have a great Sunday, Gwen. 😁

I love seeing swings, John. It does harken back the days of “go outside and play!” Not always offered in a sweet voice 😏
I’ll be over in the hammock. Do you think you could deliver the Margarita, chips and salsa?

We can deliver all of that now that the governor says drinks to go is authorized.. 😁

(could I have a little extra salt on my margarita glass please?)
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes you can have extra salt, GP. I actually took these photos on Friday since the Saharan dust pretty much kept me inside yesterday. Looks like today will be better. 😁

Love the idyllic vibe of your photos, John, and the margaritas sound awesome! Will plan on hitting your house for happy hour next time I’m in the Lone Star state. 😉 Watching your numbers climb with great consternation as my family is just down the road from you. Stay safe!

We are all concerned. Last weekend a group of 300 teens all got together fro a beer pong party. The fallout is going to be severe. Tell the folks to wear masks and stay home as much as they can.

Ths was a great idea for a post! Although not hanging things, the crape myrtles are my favorite.

The dust didn’t allow the sun to hit them which would have been terrific. Thanks, Liz.

In my neighborhood, see kids playing outside or simply riding bikes has made me smile … so to me, your scenes support my thoughts. Meanwhile, I’m all in for the margarita, chips, and mango salsa.

Thanks, Frank. I was surprised to see the kids playing. I know that sounds silly but folks have been pretty scarce for the last few months. It’s good to hear from you. I hope you are keeping well. 😊

All well here. I’ve had a lot of other stuff on my plate this month that has kept me away – but hopefully that will slow down soon.

Yesterday I passed a nearby house and noticed a ladder propped against a tree. The people were hanging an old-fashioned swing from a limb. Don’t see too many of those these days, but its what I always had as a kid.
Nice views, John.

Thankyou, Joan. I think folks are going back to having to accomodate active kids who can’t go somewhere to burn some energy.

Not a lot of front yard stuff here. Swings tend to be in the back. Hammock sounds like a good idea though.

A lot of the houses here don’t have much of a backyard. People have to make do with the front.

Makes sense. There are places like that in other areas of New York too.

I spent a good number of hours reading in my grandparents’ porch swing during the summers. I still like a porch swing. When they came up with those “gliders” that were so popular for a while, it was a step back for civilization.

I remember the gliders. They were always rusty and made noise or didn’t work well. You are right about a step back.

Good morning, John,
the only hanging items we have are the bird feeders and the wind chimes. We do have a hammock, but we rarely put it up.
Have a wonderful Sunday, without too much Sahara dust,

A margarita, chips, and mango salsa sounds really yummy, John! Thanks for sharing the hanging items. 🙂 I love the hammock! And yes, all the swings and outdoor gyms scream “Go outside and play!” I’m sure that’s a parents’ favorite refrain these days. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

I loved these images, John. My grandson has his own swing set and a trampoline out in back. They’ll lay dormant and quiet for now as our Winter begins. It’s -4 here this morning. Can Uber deliver a large dose of your summer warmth? Oh, and jug of Margarita with a side order of headache medication ’cause I like to be preapred.😊

Those are great shots of the neighborhood, John. The quarantine may be forcing us to rediscover the familiar. Your opening lines reminded me of one of my favorite poems, ‘The Red Wheelbarrow’ by William Carlos Williams.

Haha! Uncle Sam makes for a funny pic. With the mental extremism that seems to have gotten hold of humans, with someone or the other getting hurt with anything or everything, some could interpret this as being disrespectful of Uncle Sam.

I think disrespect would be if he was holding on by one hand and holding his head with the other. Thanks, Ankur.
