Happy Fourth of July. I hope you have a safe one, and remember the strength of our democracy is in our individual effort to remain free.
Here is a shot of my flag flying today.
Now to the Stream of Consciousness Prompt. Here is Linda Hill to explain the prompt. “Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “toss.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!” If you would like to join us and enjoy as well, visit Linda’s blog and read how easy it is. Here is the link.

“Hey, Happy Fourth of July.”
“Why, thank you. Where you off to?”
“Heading to the park to toss the old football around.”
“The park is closed.”
“Closed?”
“Yup. The county decided that people weren’t staying away from each other, so they closed the parks.”
“Okay. No problem. I’ll go to the ball diamond and toss the baseball around. Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Closed.”
“Shoot. How about the swimming pool. I can toss the sponge around. Don’t tell me.”
“Yup, closed.”
“I can’t think of anything else to do until the fireworks?”
” They are canceled too. How about you just stay here for the day, and we can toss whatever you want around. I’ve got enough corn and burgers.”
“Can we toss stuff back?”
“What do you mean?”
“This twelve-pack is just begging for a couple of good ole boys to toss back a few.”
“I’d say we have the makings of a great day. Let me put those on ice and get the football.”
“You are the best.”
“Happy Fourth of July, my friend.”
“Happy Fourth, now toss me a shiny one before you go.”
Have a good fourth of July, John.

I forgot to add. The Queen sent a message to the US. “Happy Traitor’s Day, you ungrateful colonies.”

I am glad you have found some good ways of celebrating at home, John. Stay safe, dear friend, I would not like you to get ill with this horrible virus.

Thanks, John. I like being at home. More time to do all the things like like AND the boys start exams on Monday so I have to push my little elephants up the academic staircase.

I’d say the two good ole boys have the makings for a great Fourth of July celebration! To add to the festivities, perhaps Lucy and Twiggy will provide entertainment with a wrestling match.

Sounds like the makings of a great weekend. While I’m here, could you toss me a cold one?

😀 Well done, John! And I hope you have a wonderful 4th of July, tossing around a football, a toy for the dogs, a cold one, or some ideas for your next book! Love the flag. Ours is rippling in the breeze, too. Long may they wave! 🙂

We are staying home and grilling hotdogs and hamburgers. Could anything be more American? Have a great 4th!

I think this is what many of us are doing – staying home or close to it. Not going to fireworks or parks or swimming pools. This is probably going to feel like most weekends other than it’s an important date for Americans to reflect on their independence. Happy 4th John!

For some reason, the mention of ‘toss’ brought ring toss to mind. I can’t say why – I don’t even recall ever playing it. Like a child’s version of horseshoes, haha.

Thak you, Jennie. It is placed there by the school orchestra as a fund raiser. I suscribe for the year and each national holiday they bring a flag and then remove it after the holiday is over.
