It is Wednesday Story Day again, and last week, we witnessed the arrest of Lazar Popović and his gang for the possession of illegal drugs. Popovic and his cronies are to be transported by vans to the lockup. Larry, Andrew, and the lieutenant will start their interrogation there and left in separate cars. I see our heroes are back at the headquarters. Let’s go and join them.
“So, lieutenant, we have enough evidence.”
“It would appear that way.”
“You are going hold them and then contact the District attorney?”
“I want to find out where they are getting these drugs for distribution.”
“You think Lazar will tell you?”
“I strongly suspect our old friend Nikola Stanković has something to do with this whole thing.”
“I guess him putting the finger on Popović looks a little suspect.”
“I’m sure Popović would like to know how we just happened to stop into his distribution center.”
“There is no honor among thieves, so if you hint that Stanković ratted him out, he may turn on him as well.”
“I’m not sure how credible Popović would be as a witness, but I guess it wouldn’t hurt to probe him a little.”
“While at it, I wonder if you could ask some questions about a case we are working on.”
“Like what?”
“We are running down a cold case on a guy named Sandusky, and we know that Popović’s sister was married to him. We would like to know anything he knows about Sandusky or Janet and Alexis Rafferty. It would be nice to know if he has heard of Ned Dixon, a friend of Mrs. Rafferty.”
“Hold on. I think you ought to be in the interrogation with me. I can’t remember all those names. Besides, all I’m looking for is a big drug bust. I have no interest in your case.”
“If we have found the guy who has been putting out contracts on Andrew and me, I think we have also found the guy who knows how and why Sandusky died.”
“Well, then, I think we are going to in a position to approach this interrogation very carefully. Hold on, let me catch this call. Uh-huh. Yeah, bring him to my office. It looks like Lazar’s lawyer is here. You might as well sit in on our discussion. Yes, come in have a seat.”
“Lieutenant, I don’t intend to sit and chew the fat. I want my client released immediately.”
“Well, councilor. Nice to meet you too. Your client is charged with felony drug possession, and he is going nowhere until the bail hearing.”
“Okay, I get that. I do not want you talking to him without me being present. Is that clear?”
“Of course. That is his right. It would be helpful if I could have your name and number.”
“Here is my card. I want to see my client now.”
“You can see him uh Mr. Stannis, just as soon as we get him processed into the facility.”
“How long will that take?”
“He is just arriving now. I would say no more than an hour or so.”
“Is there a place I can wait?”
“Certainly, sir. We have a break room that you are more than welcome to use.”
“I appreciate that.”
“No problem. I’ll have an officer take you there. Once Mr. Popović is in a cell, I will come to get you.”
“Thank you.”
I won’t ask any questions, John. If I do, Stannis is bound to say, “Don’t answer that.”
It’s what they do.
Good episode and nice to get back to the Sandusky affair.

I have a feeling Stannis is going to be a pain. (Wow, that would be a surprise for a lawyer) Thanks, Keith.

I’m having a little trouble with all of the names, too. And that break room…is it equip for social distancing?

Yeah the names are a pain. I’ll have to check on the social distancing factor. So far this story has been virus free like in the old days. Thanks, Jill.

Hopefully it’ll stay that way, John. I think reading has been an escape for many of us.

That is what I was thinking so I avoided the subject entirely.

Things always get derailed when the lawyer shows up. The guys might want to start going back to the drawing board.

Ugh, the lawyer is involved. Now things are going to slow down 🙁
I hope this guy can give our boys some answers.

They are pretty much out of the loop. The State Patrol and soon the DEA will be running things.

Seems like the entire country is having HOT weather. Poor Twiggy has high hopes for Friday, but I’m afraid it won’t be any cooler then.

We are looking at one degree cooler on Friday. So what is the difference between 102 and 101? Beats me. Thanks, GP.

hahaha, I love it when the weather makes a stupid comment like that!!

How can they ask questions with the lawyer there? Just when things were looking hopeful…

They can ask. Doesn’t mean they’ll get an answer. We’ll see. Thanks, Jennie.

Another great dialogue. With a lawyer involved, though, I’m pessimistic about the happy ending I was hoping for. 😀

Thank you so much, Gwen. Happy ending. I never promised you no stinking happy ending. 😁

Cue the lawyers. Very realistic. Am I wrong in thinking we’re more than halfway toward the end now, or should I look for a few more twists? Twiggy has what looks like a nice cool spot for thinking!

Yeah we might be more than halfway. Of course being a serial it may go on for another twenty years. Oh wait. That would make me 99. Not sure I can make it that far. Thanks, Debbie.

Feeling it in the later years for sure. To quote someone, “If I knew I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.” 😁

I have a hunch you’ll throw in some more twists before we read the end, John. Great dialogue!

The ‘thlot plickens’! Oh, just checking…you do know Sandusky is in Ohio, right? (Tee-Hee!)

I do know that. I was in Sandusky Ohio once. I was there a year one day.

One year! Well, Sandusky is better than Lorain, Ohio by the Lake (I taught there briefly!) No more Ohio for me…Actually, a pretty state – just not the right time for me. 🙂

Ohio either. Lorain is not the greatest.

Ugh to the lawyer making the scene. It always harshes the mellow of the situation.

It does for sure. Of course, I think Popovic would say the cops showing up harshed his mellow to the max. 😁

This should turn into an interesting interrogation. However, with the lawyer present, I have a feeling they won’t get many answers. Great segment!
