“Okay, gang. Who’s going to pick up the toys?”
“Lucy. How about you?”
“To be honest, boss. I never played with them.”
“Twiggy? You have some work to do.”
“Aw, Dad. Why do I always have to do all the work?”
“Look at Lucy over there. She should have to do something.”
“I’m doing it, kiddo. I’m working hard at avoiding work.”
“Can you help me, please?”
“Okay, when you start moving, I’ll jump up and give you a hand.”
“Well, that’s no fair. How about if you move, and I’ll jump up and help?”
“Okay, Twiggy, we got everything picked up except this gingerbread person.”
“You are close, you get it.”
“Not how it works, Little one. It’s yours, you get it.”
“Sheesh. You are always pulling that logic quilt over my head.”
“All the toys picked up, Twiggy?”
“Yes. Lucy and I got them all.”
“Great, how about going outside?”
“I thought there would be a biscuit reward. Outside is very hot.”
“Okay, then. A biscuit it is.”
I think the heat is taking its toll on the girls. A lot of lounging going on in the Howell household. Great shots, John!

They definately are avoiding the heat, Jill. They go out for a few minutes. “Dog Days” is a good description for sure. Have a good one. š

If my record with dogs is anything to go by, the only way the dogs’ toy box stays tidy is when the dogs get too old to play with them.

For some reason, I’m remembering the days when I was told to clean up my room, and everything went under the bed. That worked for a short while, until Mom finally lifted up the bedspread. You might look under those sofas.

Good idea, Linda. We have found toys in unusual spots but never put two and two together. š

The girls are so cute. It’s good to see that you’re a soft touch for a biscuit, John. Maddie up dumps her toy box, searching for something. We haven’t trained her to pick them up. I need to work on that.

Impressive, dear John! I wish all of you to fight the heat. We are facing floods! Pelting rain are upon us. I hope Friday won’t get a sunstroke! š

Rain would be so nice. Of course not a big amount, but when does that ever happen. If you want warm weather you get 39 degrees C. If you want a little rain you get a flood. Stay high and dry, Maria. š

Their toys seem to hold up pretty well. Theyāve had those fries for a while. My dogs have a toy box the humans call the garbage can after they play.

These two are pretty kind to their toys. We don’t throw them away since they keep coming back to them even if they sit for months. Your two are built to disassemble. Thanks, Craig.

The old pit bull used to destroy his immediately. Obsessed with removing the squeakers. He’d play happily with the rags for months after that, so we’d let him.

Tell me PLEASE how you taught them to pick up the toys!!! The moggies leave theirs all over the house and never, ever pick one up and return it to the toy basket! Great job, Lucy & Twiggy!

It’s easy. You point to the toy. They look at you and the toy. Then you demonstrate how to pick it up. Repeat with each toy.
