Another Friday is upon us. Yes indeed. I hope it means that you will be doing something fun for the weekend. I am wondering these days what that something fun could be?
For us here in Serenityville, it means trying to figure out a photo session for Views of the Neighborhood, which has to be taken on Saturday. It is getting tougher and tougher to find a subject due to the suspension of most of the activities around town. When we finally decide on a topic, it is a rush to get it done and scheduled to run.
The schools here in Texas have been given local authority to decide to conduct classes remotely. There has been a great deal of angst by the teachers on possibly having to go back to the classroom while the virus cases continue to climb. Now the local school boards can decide. Most are leaning toward virtual learning sessions.

Local is definitely better. They’re discussing what to do here right now. Being in New York, I’m a little worried that they’ll go for in-school. I just don’t think the virus is really under control and it’s going to rise up again. I go in first a one day sub job today too, so I’ll see how things are going to go.

Local is better for sure. As for your neighborhood, a before and after might be good. Or…a refresher. I loved the one of the painted rocks, the rocks with messages. Simple and powerful. 🙂

I’m not sure who’s going to decide around here, John but it won’t be the feds. Of course, all of CT isn’t much bigger than some Texas cities, so our state gov is almost “local” 🙂
We’re looking good, as far as cases go, but no one wants to swing that pendulum back.

Here in FL, our numbers are climbing at an alarming rate, so which is better – I haven’t a clue. This virus doesn’t want to let go!

Lucy’s dream: alone at the yard & Friday is carrying cocktails! 🙂 Online classes is a nightmare, dear John! I hope that your locals will be wise enough to avoid it as much as they can. A curious fact: we, Russians, are too free people. So, no matter the lockdown people, including me, went out as much as it was necessary. Certainly, most of us took simple health preventive measures. It is said now that we have formed a sort of a common immunity against the virus…if it exists. What a pleasant surprise! 🙂 Wish you the same!

Actually, as the one who practises astrology (the amateur’s level at the moment), I can even prove it. I would say that the virus does exist, however all the fuss around is the pure manipulation. (10% of the virus/90% of the rest). The present situation is a sort of a Mass media war we haven’t got used to. I suppose that it would not have been this way if people had lived offline more. Or if the majority had been more sceptical regarding the info in the Internet. 🙂 A curious thing: here in Russia it is strongly believed & feared that the evil American politicians & Bill Gates want to chip the humanity by means of the anti-virus vaccine. So on so far. As I can read news in various languages I’m amazed to see how the propagandistic mood changes from country to country. Just keep your mind in a cool place, dear John! We will make it! 🙂 🙂 🙂

I was just reading about the school systems here yesterday. They’re giving parents the option of sending kids to school or remote learning, and it stated only 25% chose remote learning – kind of surprising. It also mentioned all the precautions the schools would be taking, so I hope it works for them. Tough decision to make. Have a great weekend, John!

Definitely, John. I appreciate the urge to return to normalcy as soon as possible, but I wonder if that’s going to be possible. It’s pretty much been determined that things like war and pandemics change our world. Probably we’re going to need to adapt. What worries me is that too often, we don’t know WHO or WHAT to trust because the powers-that-be are so intent on pointing fingers at each other and spinning the story their way. Enjoy the weekend!

My daughter lives in Portland! God help her. I love going there–but only to see her and to visit Powell’s Book Store–a one-square block multi-storied monstrous book store that I can spend hours in. Those imbecilic anarchists had better leave Powell’s alone.

Our cases are climbing too, John. The virus is pretty out of control here. I always take the US stats and divide by 50. That gives a more normalised per country figure to compare to the rest of the world.

Hi John, SA has 59 million people and the 6th highest number of cases in the world (based on available testing). We have just under 340 000 active cases and 5 000 deaths. If you divide the US figures by 50 you get an average of 75 000 cases and just under 3 000 deaths. Of course, some states have been harder hit than others but I suspect it is the more densely populated areas that have higher numbers of cases and deaths. If you look at it like this thought, it makes the US figures seem much more aligned with the rest of the world. For our population, our figures are huge

Hi John, we are waiting to see what our school district will decide. Earlier this week, they were working towards some sort of in-class learning, but that is changing. Our other son’s college campus is ready to open in 3 weeks. Take care. Good John Ku!

Distance learning works. Teachers shouldn’t be forced back into the classroom if they’re uncomfortable being exposed to all those kids, and parents. Heck, I’m uncomfortable with my Grandson returning to school! Fortunately, his district has decided to continue via distance learning.
