Stream of Consciousness Saturday – Prompt – “More”

Stream of Consciousness

More than ever, I want to welcome Linda Hill to explain our Stream of Consciousness prompt for this week. So here she is to let us know what to work on. “Thanks, John. You still haven’t gotten a haircut, I see. Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “more.” Start your post with the word “more.” Enjoy!”

I guess now you know why I started the post with “more.” Yes, I did cheat. I read ahead before Linda got here.  If you would like to join in the enjoyment, visit Linda’s blog, and learn how.  Here is the link. https://lindaghill.com/2020/07/31/the-friday-reminder-and-prompt-for-socs-aug-1-2020/

“More is less.”

“Excuse me?”

“The saying, ‘more is less.'”

“Yes, what about it? By the way, the saying is ‘Less is more.”‘

“I think it means the same thing. Sometimes when you have more, you really have less.”

“But the idea that ‘Less is More’ circles on the concept of having very little leads to being able to enjoy what you have and thus is more beneficial.”

“I get that. I was thinking more about having choices.”

“Okay. Now that we are in a philosophical discussion tell me more.”

“Go to the food store and see how many more breakfast cereal choices there are there.”

“Oh, I know. More than Cheerios, and I am confused.”

“So I’m saying that if there were only Cheerios on the shelf, the more, you would like them.”

“Well, let’s say the more I would like not having to make a choice.”

“So, in my example, having all those choices is actually not giving you more choices but rather less satisfaction.”

“I think that is more or less accurate.”

“Ta da. ‘More is less.”‘

“You do this to me more times than I want to count.”

“And I will do it more times than I can count since you are such an easy mark.”

“Maybe I trust you more than I should.”

“More is less.”

“I’m going to the pub. More to try and forget this conversation.”

“I’ll buy the first, then if you want more, it’s on you.”

“One is more than none. Okay, you are on.”

“You are so easy. More to come.”

  1. I was ready for more but decided you were right, less is more after all even if you tried to put it backwards!

      1. I think it’s still a winner. Philosophical debates do go this way a lot.

  6. “One is more than none.” Words of wisdom, so very important to understand, John. More is less, less is more – confusion rules the day. I’ll join you at the bar. I’ll buy the second round.

    1. I think I could use a drink after this one, Dan. I’ll be there shortly. Thanks, 😁

  7. Are we expected to add any more to this, John?

    1. I think the more we go on the less we will understand. No, GP. There is no more you need to add. There is more than enough. Yikes, get me out of this tic. Thank you. 😂

      1. LOL, proof that you did better with the prompt than I could have. “More power to you” was all I could think of when presented with “more”… And proof that I need to try and manifest “more” and improve my concept of more. Ah! That’s one — “more than enough!” And since I’ve just commented more than enough, I’ll stop babbling. 😀
