Today we are going to visit the kinetic sculpture garden in Lakeway. The sculptures were done by kinetic artist Joe LaPaso to reflect Lakeway in motion. The Lakeway Arts Committee is responsible for the installation.

The first sculpture. You will note the powerlines since we are in the original section of Lakeway. This sculpture is hard to visualize in a photo.

The next sculpture. Hard to see in the wires. I could not take a shot from the other direction since it was right into the sun.

Yes they are strange. When you are standing looking at them it almost feels like the ground is moving. I also like how the sun hits the stainless steel and glass. 😊

I hope any other hurricanes around are like this – we barely got any rain and only minor gusts. The weather reports have us barely surviving, but thunderstorms are 10x worse than this!! The sun has been out already today!! 😊

I really enjoy kinetic sculptures. They remind me of Miro’s mobiles. I can’t remember seeing any that incorporated colored glass. I’m glad you took the trouble to capture these for us — they’re fun to see.

How I love that last photo! I can so see me climbing onto that branch — perhaps with a good book — and hibernating there all day! These kinetic structures are most interesting, too, and I appreciate all the effort you put into getting them for us. The videos give them life!!

Yes, that is what it is. We are very lucky to have a lot of it. We do get dust from our friends in Africa but usually it is like you see in the photo. I always thought there was big sky in Australia.

These kinetic sculptures are such fun, John! A few years ago I wrote a piece about a sculptor in Massachusetts, George Sherwood, who does this sort of work.
