Thursday – A Little Personal – Twiggy and Lucy Outside

Lucy and Twiggy

“Lucy. What’s up?”

“Trying to take a sun bath.”

“Well, at least you are out where the sun is. Too hot for me.”

“Oh, give it a try, Little One. You might like it.”

“Let’s see. If I do my pointer imitation, it doesn’t seem so hot.”

“You are close to making a fool of yourself.”

“Why do you say that?”

“Everyone knows you are a bulldog. Bulldogs don’t point.”

“Well, I never. Who says so?”

“It is just a well know fact.”

“I suppose It’s believed Bulldogs don’t hunt too.”

“Oh, no. People believe Bulldogs hunt. Some say that’s why they were bred.”

“In fact, Boxers were bred to hunt too.”

“Very interesting, Lucy. But I’m bored now.”

“So, where you going?”

“I think I’m going to the patio and order up a cool drink.”

“Now, you are dreaming. Who’s going to bring you a refreshing drink?

“You have to be kidding. Bulldogs make the best people trainers there are.”

“You won’t get the boss to bring you a drink.”

“I would place money on that, but Bulldogs don’t gamble.”

“Come back here. It is about time to go in. It is sweltering.”

“So why am I waiting for you? Bulldogs are very fast.”

“So I’ve heard. Old Boxers are very slow.”

“So I see.”

  10. The girls are really cute. Is it still hot, John or have you gotten a break. I think I’d be with Twiggy. A bowl of cool water for her, and I’ll have, well, you know.

    1. No break, Dan. Forecast is seven more days of +100 degrees. Twiggy likes to mind the shadows. Do you want that in a bowl? 😊

      1. At 100 degrees a bowl would be fine. I feel bad for telling you it was only 58 when Maddie took me for my walk this morning. First time we’ve seen it below 60 since ever.

      2. We had 69 degrees this morning. What a break. Due to be 100 this afternoon.

  12. Old humans can be slow, too. I’m on Lucy’s side in this one. It crossed my mind that it would be good to have a Lucy around to tell me occasionally to stop making a fool of myself.

  22. John, I love how you’ve woven interesting tidbits on the characteristics of these two breeds in this post! A childhood friend of mine had a boxer, but that was before we became friends so I didn’t get to know him. I’ve never met a real French Bulldog, but I understand they’re quite popular these days. I guess it’s still hot there?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. French Bulldogs are popular. It is always sad when a breed becomes popular, the backyard breeders jump on the trends. It is still hot here. In the 100s for the next seven days. Thanks, Debbie.

  27. I love what you do with these every Thursday. I’m with Twiggy. Sunshine is lovely and all but at 100 degrees, I’m thinking shade and something frosty in a pre-cooled glass…

    1. I’m with you. Move over. What are we drinking?

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Lemme see… with those temps, I would gladly start off with either a nice frosty beer 🍺 or, how about a margarita 🍸 (I know, that’s a martini, but just go with it, ok)?

        Liked by 1 person

      2. I do make a killer margarita. 1 part tequila, 1 part Grand Marnier, 1 part fresh key lime juice, 1 part water, 1/2 part agave necter. I shake with ice and serve over ice in a pint mason jar dressed with a lime. Yum. 😁

      4. After 5:00 is great. By part, I mean any measure is scaleable. So for us I would do a 4oz measure. This also does well in the blender if you like yours frozen.

      5. Of course… that went without saying! I do love the frozen version but if it’s too much trouble, shaken will be fine 🙂
